Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design, configure, and deploy scalable and secure network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba.
- Proactively monitor the health, availability, and performance of the entire network fabric (LAN, WAN, WLAN, Data Center) using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or Zabbix to preemptively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network incidents, connectivity problems, and performance degradation across hardware, software, and carrier circuits.
- Manage and maintain enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA), including rule-set optimization, VPN configuration, and regular security policy audits to protect corporate assets.
- Administer and optimize routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF, to ensure efficient and redundant data pathways across our multi-site and hybrid-cloud environment.
- Oversee the corporate wireless infrastructure, including WLAN controllers and access points, to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance Wi-Fi coverage for all employees and guests.
- Implement and manage network security solutions, such as Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Network Access Control (NAC), and web content filtering.
- Act as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for the IT help desk, providing expert-level support for all network-related service requests and incidents.
- Plan and execute network hardware and software upgrades, patches, and migrations during scheduled maintenance windows to minimize business disruption.
- Manage the organization's IP address space, including DHCP scopes and DNS records, ensuring accuracy and availability through robust DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) solutions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including detailed network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in the design and implementation of network solutions for cloud environments (AWS VPC, Azure VNet), including direct connects and VPN tunnels.
- Analyze network traffic patterns using tools like Wireshark and NetFlow to diagnose issues, plan for capacity, and optimize performance.
- Respond to and resolve network security alerts, investigate potential breaches, and collaborate with the cybersecurity team on incident response.
