Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Anchor multiple live daily newscasts, presenting scripted and unscripted news content with professionalism, energy, and authenticity.
- Research, write, edit, and produce compelling news stories, teases, and promotional content for on-air broadcast, our website, and social media platforms.
- Conduct insightful and probing live and pre-taped interviews with newsmakers, officials, and community members, demonstrating an ability to listen and react in real-time.
- Ad-lib with poise and accuracy during breaking news events, providing continuous, clear, and calm coverage for extended periods.
- Collaborate closely with producers, directors, writers, and photographers to ensure the flawless execution of a polished and cohesive newscast.

- Maintain a deep and current understanding of local, national, and international events, as well as community issues and key figures.
Secondary Functions
- Actively represent the station at public and community events, serving as a brand ambassador and fostering a positive connection with the audience.
- Build and engage a loyal audience on digital platforms by posting news updates, sharing behind-the-scenes content, and interacting thoughtfully with viewers on social media.
- Write and publish companion articles and digital-first content for the station’s website and mobile apps to drive online traffic and engagement.
- Mentor and provide constructive feedback to reporters, producers, and other junior newsroom staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Actively participate in daily editorial meetings, strategic planning sessions, and post-newscast critique meetings.
- Develop and cultivate a robust network of sources and contacts within the community to generate exclusive story leads.
- Stay current with emerging newsgathering technologies, broadcast equipment, non-linear editing systems, and digital content production tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the News Director, including filling in for other anchors or reporters and contributing to special projects.

- Expertise in scriptwriting for broadcast, with a strong understanding of timing, pacing, and visual storytelling.
