Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Act as the Manager on Duty, overseeing all opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures to maintain the club's operational standards and security protocols.
  • Supervise all floor staff, including bartenders, servers, hosts, barbacks, and security personnel, during high-volume shifts to ensure operational excellence and team cohesion.
  • Proactively address and resolve guest complaints, concerns, and special requests in a timely and professional manner, aiming to exceed expectations and encourage repeat business.
  • Enforce all local, state, and federal regulations regarding alcohol service, public safety, and health codes to ensure full compliance and mitigate operational risks.
  • Conduct informative and motivational pre-shift meetings with the team to communicate nightly goals, promotions, special events, and VIP reservations.
  • Monitor and manage venue capacity, guest flow, and security checkpoints to maintain a safe, comfortable, and controlled environment for all patrons and staff.
  • Take a lead role in handling and de-escalating difficult situations and conflicts, working closely with the security team to professionally remove disruptive individuals when necessary.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the floor throughout the shift, engaging with guests and staff to foster a positive, high-energy, and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Oversee and manage VIP table reservations and bottle service operations, ensuring an exceptional, seamless, and high-touch experience for our most valued guests.
  • Manage all cash handling procedures, including POS system reconciliation, float verification, and end-of-night cash-outs, ensuring absolute accuracy and accountability.
  • Generate and analyze detailed end-of-shift reports covering sales data, labor costs, notable incidents, and guest feedback for review by senior management.
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance are consistently upheld across all areas of the venue, from the entrance to restrooms and VIP sections.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of front-of-house staff, providing constructive feedback and performance coaching.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels for beverage, glassware, and other operational supplies, participating in ordering, stock control, and variance analysis to minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and events team to successfully execute promotional nights, private parties, and special events.
  • Coordinate with DJs, lighting technicians, and performers to ensure the seamless execution of nightly entertainment schedules and special performances.
  • Implement and champion all company policies, service standards, and procedures, serving as a role model for the team in professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
  • Conduct regular safety and security walkthroughs of the premises to identify and proactively address potential hazards, maintenance issues, or security vulnerabilities.
  • Train staff on responsible alcohol service practices (TIPS/ServSafe) and actively monitor guest behavior to prevent over-intoxication.
  • Contribute ideas for improving operational efficiency, enhancing the guest experience, and driving revenue.
  • Support the scheduling process to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to match projected business volume and special event requirements.
  • Oversee the proper functioning of all club equipment, including POS systems, sound systems, and lighting rigs, troubleshooting minor issues and reporting major faults for repair.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • POS System Proficiency: Extensive experience with modern Point of Sale systems (e.g., Toast, TouchBistro, Aloha).
  • Cash Management: Expertise in cash handling, till reconciliation, and end-of-day financial reporting.
  • Inventory Control: Knowledge of inventory management software and best practices for stock-taking and variance reduction.
  • Responsible Alcohol Service: Must hold a current certification (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol).
  • Safety & Security Protocols: Understanding of crowd management, emergency procedures, and conflict de-escalation tactics.
  • Scheduling Software: Familiarity with staff scheduling platforms (e.g., 7shifts, HotSchedules).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Highly desirable.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a high-volume bar, restaurant, or nightclub environment.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience as a supervisor or manager in a premium, high-energy nightclub or live music venue is strongly preferred. Proven track record of successfully managing teams of 15+ employees.
