Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Efficiently unload pallets of merchandise from delivery trucks, using equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, to move products to the sales floor and backroom storage areas.
- Accurately stock and replenish shelves, coolers, freezers, and promotional displays following detailed planograms and store layout guides.
- Meticulously "face" and "front" all products, pulling items to the front of the shelf to create a full, visually appealing, and easily shoppable experience for customers.
- Execute proper product rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure product freshness and minimize waste, especially for dairy, produce, and other dated items.
- Deconstruct and break down large pallets of mixed merchandise, accurately sorting items by aisle, department, and category to streamline the stocking process.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the shift, including sweeping aisles, promptly cleaning up spills, and removing potential hazards.
- Systematically break down cardboard boxes and properly sort them for recycling, and manage the disposal of other trash to keep the backroom and sales floor clear.
- Assist in periodic inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits to help maintain accurate on-hand quantities and identify stock discrepancies.
- Proactively identify and pull expired, damaged, or spoiled products from the shelves and process them according to company policies for claims or disposal.
- Build and assemble promotional end-caps and other special merchandise displays according to marketing plans, ensuring they are well-stocked and attractive.
- Operate handheld scanning devices and other inventory management technology to track product movement, verify pricing, and check stock levels.
- Ensure the store is "grand opening ready" by the end of the shift, meaning all aisles are clean, shelves are full, and the store is in perfect condition for the morning rush.
Secondary Functions
- Provide courteous and effective assistance to the few late-night or early-morning customers who may be in the store, helping them locate products.
- Communicate clearly with fellow night crew members and store leadership regarding out-of-stock items, inventory issues, or any challenges encountered during the shift.
- Assist in implementing price changes by removing old shelf tags and applying new ones with accuracy and efficiency across assigned departments.
- Organize and maintain the backroom and overstock areas, ensuring products are correctly labeled, stored in their designated locations, and easily accessible for future stocking.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, safe operation of equipment, and awareness of store security procedures.
- Collaborate with teammates to complete all stocking assignments for the night, offering assistance to others when your own tasks are complete to ensure team success.
- Verify incoming shipments by checking merchandise against packing slips or invoices, noting and reporting any shortages, overages, or damages to management.
- Prepare the receiving area for the next day's deliveries by clearing space and organizing materials.

- Physical Stamina & Strength: Ability to repeatedly lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for the entire shift.
