This role leads vendor selection and RFP processes, crafts legally and commercially robust agreements (SOWs, SLAs), monitors supplier performance via KPIs and scorecards, drives transition and knowledge-transfer activities, and continuously improves outsourced delivery across onshore, nearshore and offshore models. The Outsourcing Manager partners closely with Procurement, Legal, Finance, IT, HR and business stakeholders to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and measurable value realization from outsourcing investments.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end vendor selection, RFP and RFx processes for outsourcing initiatives, preparing requirement specifications, evaluation criteria, scoring models and presenting vendor shortlists and commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, master services agreements, statements of work (SOWs), pricing models (T&M, FTE, fixed-price, outcome-based), change control terms and termination provisions with a focus on risk allocation and value protection.
  • Define and implement SLAs, operational KPIs and contractual performance frameworks that translate business objectives into measurable vendor deliverables and financial incentives/penalties.
  • Design and execute vendor onboarding and transition plans, including detailed knowledge transfer, resource mobilization, tools access, process documentation and phased cutovers to ensure minimal business disruption.
  • Establish governance forums (steering committees, monthly business reviews, operational cadence) and run regular performance review meetings to drive continuous improvement and joint business planning with suppliers.
  • Build and manage a robust vendor performance management program, including scorecards, root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, escalation matrices and vendor improvement initiatives to address service gaps.
  • Drive cost optimization and value realization programs across the outsourcing portfolio, using benchmarking, cost-to-serve analysis, pricing renegotiation, process redesign and automation opportunities to deliver quantifiable savings.
  • Manage vendor financials and budgets including forecasting, invoicing validation, chargeback mechanisms, financial reconciliations and commercial renewals to ensure contractual and budgetary compliance.
  • Lead third-party risk management for outsourced services: conduct due diligence, assess regulatory, operational, security and geopolitical risks, manage remediation plans and maintain vendor risk registers.
  • Partner with Legal and Procurement to ensure contracts meet corporate compliance, data protection (GDPR, CCPA), confidentiality, IP ownership, liability and indemnity requirements relevant to outsourced services and cross-border data flows.
  • Oversee multi-vendor and multi-geography relationships (onshore, nearshore, offshore), coordinating account teams, offshore delivery managers and local leads to ensure consistent service quality and cultural alignment.
  • Drive transition and transformation projects that move activities to shared services, BPO partners or captive centers, including process standardization, documentation, training programs and expected SLA ramp targets.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level reporting and dashboards on vendor health, contract status, KPI trends, savings realized and risk posture to inform leadership decisions and procurement strategy.
  • Manage vendor-related change management activities with internal stakeholders, addressing organizational impacts, FTE redeployment, communications and retention plans during outsourcing transitions.
  • Facilitate vendor audits, compliance reviews and business continuity planning to validate controls, disaster recovery capabilities and regulatory adherence within vendor environments.
  • Negotiate and manage outsourcing exit strategies and contingency plans, including knowledge retention, cutover back-in plans, and transition support to alternate suppliers to mitigate vendor failure or contract termination risks.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation with strategic vendors by identifying opportunities for process automation, digital tooling, shared KPIs and transformation roadmaps that increase efficiency and service quality.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between internal product, IT, HR, security and finance teams and external vendors to align delivery roadmaps with enterprise strategy and technical standards.
  • Resolve high-impact service incidents and disputes with vendors through structured escalation, coordinated root cause analysis, remediation tracking and lessons-learned integration into future contracts.
  • Implement supplier consolidation and rationalization programs to reduce supplier sprawl, negotiate portfolio-level agreements and increase leverage for better commercial terms.
  • Track and enforce vendor SLAs related to data security, privacy and information access; coordinate security assessments (penetration tests, SOC reports) and remediate findings with vendors.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing vendor management team: set objectives, run performance reviews, define career paths and ensure knowledge-sharing across accounts and regions.
  • Evaluate and integrate outsourcing governance best practices (ITIL, COBIT) into supplier management processes to strengthen delivery predictability and operational maturity.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions to define service boundaries, responsibilities (RACI), process maps and acceptance criteria for outsourced services.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Vendor management and supplier relationship management (SRM) expertise with demonstrated experience managing global BPO, IT and service providers.
  • Contract negotiation and drafting experience, including MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, pricing models, change control and termination clauses.
  • Strong knowledge of SLA and KPI design, performance scorecards and vendor scorecard methodologies.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree (MBA) or advanced certification in Procurement, Supply Chain or Service Management.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, PMP, ITIL, or Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) are a plus.
