Primary Functions

  • Diligently prepare, assemble, and submit comprehensive permit application packages to various municipal, county, and state agencies, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.

  • Interpret and meticulously review architectural drawings, engineering plans, and site surveys to ensure they meet the specific requirements for permit submittal.
  • Address and systematically resolve any comments, corrections, or rejections from plan reviewers in a timely manner by coordinating with architects, engineers, and other consultants.
  • Manage and coordinate the scheduling of all required inspections with city or county officials, ensuring project sites are ready and accessible.
  • Process and manage the payment of all permit fees, bonds, and other associated costs, maintaining accurate financial records for project accounting.
  • Compile and organize all necessary close-out documentation upon project completion, including final inspections, certificates of occupancy, and other jurisdictional releases.
  • Maintain a comprehensive internal database or tracking system with up-to-date information on permit status, timelines, fees, and jurisdictional contacts.
  • Identify and foresee potential permitting roadblocks or delays and develop strategic solutions to mitigate risks and keep projects on schedule.
  • Attend and represent the company at pre-application meetings, public hearings, and other sessions with planning boards or city councils as required.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with plan reviewers, inspectors, and other officials at various government agencies.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to internal project teams regarding permitting strategies, timelines, and potential challenges for upcoming projects.
  • Coordinate the procurement of utility service applications (power, water, sewer) and ensure all prerequisites are met for service activation.
  • Manage the renewal process for existing permits and licenses to ensure continuous compliance for ongoing operations or phased projects.
  • Review and verify that all sub-contractor licenses and insurance information are current and meet jurisdictional requirements before work commences.
  • Prepare and submit applications for a wide variety of permit types, including but not limited to building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, demolition, and signage.
  • Investigate and resolve code violations or "stop work" orders by coordinating with on-site teams and agency officials to achieve swift resolution.
