Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct thorough and detailed inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to identify evidence of pest infestations, including insects, rodents, and other wildlife.
  • Accurately identify different types of pests, assess the extent of the infestation, and locate potential entry points and contributing environmental conditions.
  • Develop and present customized Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plans to clients, outlining a strategic combination of chemical and non-chemical treatment options.
  • Educate clients on pest biology, treatment procedures, expected outcomes, and preventative measures they can take to avoid future infestations.
  • Apply pesticides, rodenticides, and other chemical treatments safely and effectively in strict accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Skillfully operate and maintain a variety of application equipment, including power sprayers, bait guns, foggers, and hand-held sprayers.
  • Install, manage, and maintain pest control devices such as bait stations, traps, and monitoring systems.
  • Perform exclusion work, such as sealing cracks, gaps, and other entry points in structures to physically prevent pests from entering.
  • Create detailed and accurate service reports for each client visit, documenting observations, services performed, materials used, and any recommendations.
  • Manage a daily service route efficiently, ensuring timely arrival at all scheduled appointments while optimizing travel time.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients before, during, and after service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to offer additional services or solutions that would benefit the client and prevent future problems.
  • Adhere to all company and industry safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure personal and public safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service vehicle, managing inventory of products and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain required state and federal documentation related to pesticide usage and service activities.
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends, new products, treatment techniques, and changes in pest control regulations.
  • Troubleshoot complex or persistent pest problems that may require creative thinking and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with office staff and management to ensure seamless scheduling, billing, and client communication.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and client follow-up requests in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of all associated costs and the value of the services being provided.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, establishing trust and positioning yourself as their go-to pest management expert.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0 - 5+ years. This role can be an entry-point into the industry with on-the-job training, but also has levels requiring significant experience.

Preferred:

  • Previous customer-facing service or sales experience.
  • Verifiable experience and licensing as a Pest Control Technician.
