Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor a team of print operators, press assistants, and bindery staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Plan, schedule, and assign daily and weekly workloads to production staff, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet tight deadlines.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.

- Manage the inventory of essential print supplies, including paper stock, inks, toners, and plates, and coordinate with procurement to reorder materials as needed.
- Review job tickets and production orders for completeness and accuracy, clarifying any ambiguities with account managers or pre-press before initiating a job.
- Generate and analyze daily production reports on output, waste, and efficiency, providing insights and recommendations for improvement to upper management.
- Lead the press approval process with clients or internal stakeholders, ensuring the final product matches the approved proof before commencing the full run.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor by identifying inefficiencies and implementing lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and limitations of all digital, offset, and wide-format printing equipment in the facility.
- Ensure proper job setup, including plate mounting, ink mixing, and paper loading, is performed correctly and efficiently by the press operators.
- Manage shift changeovers to ensure a smooth and complete handoff of job status, equipment conditions, and any outstanding issues.
