Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Own end-to-end production delivery for assigned projects: develop production plans, lead creative briefs, establish milestones and ensure final deliverables meet creative, technical and business specifications.
  • Create, manage and report against comprehensive production budgets β€” prepare budget estimates, track actuals, approve spend, reconcile vendor invoices and drive cost-saving strategies without compromising creative objectives.

  • Oversee casting, talent negotiations and talent relations including booking, contracts, releases, schedules and on-set coordination with talent managers and agencies.
  • Lead production meetings and daily call sheets, maintain production paperwork (budgets, schedules, call sheets, shot lists, release forms, risk assessments) and ensure version control across teams.
  • Coordinate location scouting, permitting, insurance, basecamp logistics and health & safety protocols; secure all necessary clearances and municipal approvals for shoots.
  • Manage post-production lifecycle: editorial workflows, VFX/graphics briefs, color grading, sound mixing, delivery specs, QC, and final master delivery to clients and platforms.
  • Ensure all legal, rights, music and clearance needs are satisfied β€” coordinate with legal counsel for releases, music licenses, talent clearances and intellectual property issues.
  • Serve as primary liaison between creative, client, marketing, distribution and operations teams to align expectations, milestones and delivery formats (broadcast, OTT, social, theatrical).
  • Produce and execute live events or live-to-air productions: run-of-show, technical rehearsals, cueing, broadcast switching, vendor coordination and real-time troubleshooting.
  • Implement and enforce union and guild regulations (e.g., SAG-AFTRA, IATSE) and company policies during hiring, on-set and post-production operations.
  • Lead quality control and versioning: validate technical deliverables (frame rates, codecs, color profiles, closed captions, localization assets) to platform and broadcast standards.
  • Develop creative solutions and alternative production strategies under constrained budgets or tight timelines, including remote production, multi-camera setups and hybrid workflows.
  • Prepare and present regular production status reports, risk registers and contingency plans to senior leadership and clients; escalate issues and propose mitigation.
  • Manage schedules and payroll for freelance and contract crew; oversee timesheets, expense approvals and vendor payments in alignment with finance.
  • Drive continual process improvement: create templates, checklists and production playbooks to reduce rework and accelerate delivery pipelines.
  • Negotiate and manage external vendor relationships (studios, post houses, equipment rental, transport, catering) to ensure clear SLAs and cost-effective procurement.

  • Oversee technical specifications and on-set standards for camera, lighting, audio and playback systems to ensure fidelity across deliverables.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent practical experience in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, Business or related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Film, Media Production, Broadcast Journalism or MBA with emphasis in media/business.
  • Professional certificates in production management, film production or project management (PMP advantageous).
