Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide direct, ongoing clinical and administrative supervision to a team of psychologists, therapists, and case managers, including weekly individual and group supervision sessions.
  • Review, guide, and formally approve all forms of clinical documentation, including diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Oversee and actively manage team caseloads to ensure equitable distribution, appropriate client-to-clinician matching, and adherence to established productivity standards.
  • Conduct regular, formal performance evaluations for supervisees, providing constructive, actionable feedback, setting professional development goals, and implementing performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Lead clinical case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to facilitate complex case discussions, promote collaborative problem-solving, and ensure integrated care approaches.
  • Provide expert consultation and direct, hands-on support to clinicians during crisis situations, including conducting risk assessments for suicide/homicide and managing acute psychiatric emergencies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the fidelity of clinical programs and therapeutic services to meet the evolving needs of the client population.
  • Ensure all clinical services are delivered in strict accordance with evidence-based practices, professional ethical guidelines (e.g., APA, NASW), and the highest standards of care.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy and security rules, and prepare the program for internal and external audits.
  • Facilitate the comprehensive onboarding and training of new clinical staff, providing a thorough orientation on agency policies, clinical protocols, and documentation systems.
  • Proactively identify staff training needs and coordinate the development and delivery of ongoing professional development workshops and continuing education opportunities.
  • Participate actively in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for new clinical team members, ensuring the selection of highly qualified and mission-aligned candidates.
  • Act as a primary liaison between the clinical team and upper management, effectively communicating program needs, staff feedback, and key performance metrics.
  • Directly manage and resolve client complaints or grievances regarding clinical services, ensuring a timely, thorough, and compassionate response and resolution process.
  • Maintain a small clinical caseload of complex clients to maintain advanced clinical skills and model best practices for supervisees, as required by the organization.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related mental health field.
  • Must hold an active, unrestricted state license for independent practice (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist) and meet state requirements to provide clinical supervision.

Preferred Education:

  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
