Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Supervise, mentor, and formally evaluate a multidisciplinary team of public health professionals, including nurses, health educators, and community health workers, fostering their professional development and performance.
  • Direct the day-to-day operations of specific public health programs (e.g., infectious disease control, chronic disease prevention, maternal and child health), ensuring alignment with departmental goals, grant requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Initiate and conduct systematic community health needs assessments to identify key health issues, at-risk populations, and service gaps, utilizing findings to inform evidence-based program planning and strategic resource allocation.
  • Cultivate and sustain robust collaborative relationships with community partners, government agencies, academic institutions, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders to enhance program coordination, reach, and sustainability.
  • Ensure all program activities and documentation strictly comply with local, state, and federal regulations (such as HIPAA), as well as professional ethics and evidence-based public health practices.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of grant processes, from identifying strategic funding opportunities and leading proposal development to overseeing grant reporting, compliance, and budget management for awarded funds.
  • Design and champion quality assurance and quality improvement (QA/QI) initiatives, using methodologies like Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles to continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of public health services.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing expert consultation and technical assistance to staff, community partners, and other agencies on public health principles, program-specific topics, and best practices.
  • Represent the department or agency at professional meetings, public forums, advisory boards, and community events to promote public health initiatives, disseminate information, and advocate for policies that support health equity.
  • Lead and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities within the program's scope, effectively deploying staff and resources during public health crises such as disease outbreaks or natural disasters.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
