Primary Functions

  • Develop and implement comprehensive, multi-channel public relations strategies that align with overarching business goals, enhance brand visibility, and positively shape public perception.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of public relations professionals, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and professional growth opportunities to foster a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, productive relationships with key journalists, editors, producers, bloggers, and influencers across local, national, and trade media outlets.

  • Oversee the entire content creation lifecycle for PR materials, including drafting and editing press releases, media kits, fact sheets, bylined articles, executive bios, and talking points.
  • Develop and execute a robust crisis communications plan, serving as a calm and strategic leader during sensitive situations to protect the company's reputation and manage public narrative.
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of PR-driven events, such as press conferences, product launches, media tours, and sponsored events, to generate buzz and media interest.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and media coverage, utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) like share of voice, sentiment analysis, and message pull-through to demonstrate ROI.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic counsel on messaging, public statements, and media opportunities to ensure consistent and effective communication.
  • Manage the departmental budget for public relations activities, ensuring all campaigns and initiatives are executed within financial parameters and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Social Media, and Internal Communications, to ensure a cohesive and integrated brand message across all channels.
  • Identify and secure speaking engagements, award opportunities, and other thought leadership platforms for company executives to position them as industry experts.
  • Oversee the company's media monitoring tools and reporting systems (e.g., Cision, Meltwater), translating raw data into actionable insights for the leadership team.
  • Manage relationships with external PR agencies and vendors, defining scopes of work, managing performance, and ensuring they deliver on established goals.
  • Train and prepare company spokespeople for media interviews, public appearances, and presentations, ensuring they are well-versed in key messages and prepared to handle challenging questions.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging media landscapes to identify new opportunities and potential risks for the organization's reputation.
  • Drive the narrative for major corporate announcements, including mergers and acquisitions, leadership changes, and financial reporting, ensuring clear and strategic communication to all stakeholders.

  • Writing & Editing (AP Style): Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a mastery of AP Style for creating pristine press releases, articles, and speeches.
