Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of company-wide purchasing data, historical spending, and material consumption patterns to identify and recommend significant cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated purchasing reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide leadership with clear visibility into procurement metrics and performance.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and economic indicators to forecast price fluctuations and inform strategic buying decisions and hedging strategies.
  • Design and manage a robust supplier performance management system, utilizing scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with the sourcing team to identify, vet, and onboard new suppliers, conducting rigorous financial and operational assessments to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Lead the charge on spend analysis projects, categorizing and dissecting expenditures to highlight areas for vendor consolidation, contract renegotiation, and process improvement.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of procurement data within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy of pricing, lead times, and supplier information.
  • Prepare and present detailed findings, business cases, and strategic recommendations to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders to gain buy-in for new initiatives.
  • Support the negotiation process by providing buyers and category managers with data-driven insights on pricing benchmarks, target costs, and supplier leverage points.
  • Identify and troubleshoot procurement process bottlenecks, proposing and implementing system or workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and compliance.
  • Track and report on savings initiatives, validating the financial impact of sourcing projects and ensuring that realized savings are accurately captured.
  • Develop and maintain "should-cost" models for key commodities and manufactured components to strengthen negotiation positions and evaluate supplier quotes.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for procurement analytics, providing guidance and training to buyers and other team members on data tools and best practices.
  • Oversee the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) analytical process, summarizing supplier responses and modeling total cost of ownership scenarios.
  • Analyze inventory levels in conjunction with purchasing data to optimize order quantities, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis from various business units to answer critical operational questions.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader data governance strategy and roadmap, particularly for procurement and supply chain data.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to translate data and reporting needs into technical engineering and system development requirements.
  • Participate actively in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies within the data and analytics teams.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all purchasing and analytical processes.
  • Monitor contract compliance and expiration dates, providing proactive alerts and analysis to the responsible contract owners.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Data Analysis: Proven ability to manipulate large datasets and extract meaningful business insights.
  • ERP System Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major ERP systems such as SAP (MM Module), Oracle, or NetSuite is highly valuable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel: Mastery of Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), Power Query, and basic macros.
  • Data Visualization Tools: Expertise in creating compelling dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik Sense.
  • Database Querying: Foundational knowledge of SQL for pulling and structuring data from relational databases.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
