Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the development, implementation, and rigorous maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.
  • Conduct comprehensive statistical analysis of quality performance data, defect trends, and customer feedback to identify root causes of non-conformance and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, execute, and meticulously document internal and supplier audits to verify compliance with established quality standards, contractual agreements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies like 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Manage the entire Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) lifecycle, from initiation and investigation to implementation and verification of effectiveness, ensuring timely closure of issues.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality dashboards to provide leadership with clear, actionable insights into the health of the quality system.
  • Author, review, and control essential QMS documentation, including quality manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records.
  • Plan and coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules for all measurement and test equipment to ensure sustained accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets related to process capability (Cpk, Ppk), statistical process control (SPC), and measurement systems analysis (MSA) to drive process stability.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert during external audits conducted by customers, regulatory bodies, and certification agencies.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering and product development teams to establish critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and integrate quality controls early in the design phase.
  • Create and deliver targeted quality assurance training programs for employees across various departments to foster a deep-rooted culture of quality awareness and accountability.
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers by performing on-site audits and assessing their quality systems, ensuring the integrity of the supply chain.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Manage customer complaints and non-conformance reports, ensuring thorough investigation, prompt communication, and effective resolution to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present detailed quality review reports for management, summarizing performance trends, systemic issues, and the status of improvement projects.
  • Facilitate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks in processes and products.
  • Utilize advanced data visualization tools to translate complex quality metrics into easily understandable charts, graphs, and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to ensure the organization's quality system remains compliant with all relevant national and international standards.
  • Act as a change agent within the organization, championing new quality tools, technologies, and methodologies to elevate performance and maintain a competitive edge.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to answer specific business questions from leadership.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader data governance strategy and long-term quality roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate their operational needs into technical requirements for the quality system.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies, particularly within teams focused on software quality or data systems.
  • Mentor junior analysts and quality technicians on best practices, methodologies, and analytical techniques.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • QMS Standards: Deep knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or industry-specific standards (e.g., AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 13485).
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Proficiency in methodologies like 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC): Ability to create, interpret, and act on control charts and process capability studies.
  • Process Improvement Methodologies: Certification or strong practical experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred).
  • Audit Management: Formal training or significant experience in planning, conducting, and reporting on internal and external audits.
  • CAPA Management: Expertise in managing the corrective and preventive action process from start to finish.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, Power Query) and experience with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Minitab.
  • QMS Software: Familiarity with electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) platforms such as MasterControl, Veeva QMS, or ETQ Reliance.
  • Technical Documentation: Skill in writing clear, concise, and compliant SOPs, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA): Understanding of Gage R&R studies and other methods to validate measurement systems.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are highly valued.
