Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Champion and enforce a world-class safety culture, ensuring absolute compliance with all MSHA, OSHA, and internal company safety policies to achieve a zero-harm workplace.
- Direct and coordinate all daily operational activities of the quarry, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, crushing, and screening to meet production forecasts safely and efficiently.
- Develop, manage, and take full ownership of the site's annual operating budget, P&L statements, and capital expenditure (CapEx) plans to ensure sustained profitability and effective cost control.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of supervisors, equipment operators, and plant personnel, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance work environment.
- Implement and oversee a comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance program for all fixed and mobile equipment to maximize operational uptime and extend asset life.
- Guarantee all aggregate products consistently meet or exceed quality control specifications (e.g., gradation, durability, cleanliness) through rigorous testing protocols and process adjustments.
- Manage and optimize site inventory levels of finished goods, raw materials, and critical spare parts to align with sales forecasts and avoid production disruptions.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including permits for air quality, water discharge, and land reclamation.
- Collaborate closely with the sales and logistics teams to create and execute production schedules that meet customer demand while optimizing stockpile management and shipping efficiency.
- Serve as the primary company representative to the local community, regulatory agencies, and other external stakeholders, proactively managing relationships and addressing concerns.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma) across the site to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and lower the cost per ton.
- Prepare and present detailed weekly and monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs)—including safety, production, quality, and financials—to senior leadership.
- Lead thorough and objective investigations for any safety or environmental incidents, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage all third-party contractors and vendors performing work on-site, ensuring they adhere to the company's stringent safety, environmental, and operational standards.
