Primary Functions
- Develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive and diverse portfolio of recreational programs, classes, leagues, and special events that cater to all age groups and community interests, from youth sports to senior wellness.

- Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and daily operations of all recreational facilities, including community centers, parks, athletic fields, and swimming pools, ensuring they are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy to promote programs, services, and events through various channels, including social media, websites, press releases, and community newsletters.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships and strategic partnerships with community groups, school districts, local businesses, and other government agencies to maximize resources and enhance program offerings.
- Research, write, and manage grant applications to secure alternative funding sources for new programs, equipment, and capital improvement projects.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, proposals, and presentations on departmental activities, budget status, and strategic initiatives to senior management, advisory boards, and elected officials.
- Manage the registration process for all recreational activities, including the oversight of registration software, fee collection, and customer service inquiries.
- Direct and coordinate large-scale community-wide special events, handling all aspects from conceptualization and logistics to sponsorship, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluation.
- Act as the primary liaison and staff support for a Recreation Advisory Board or Commission, preparing agendas, minutes, and facilitating productive meetings.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party vendors, service providers, and independent contractors to ensure quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Investigate and resolve complaints and concerns from the public, staff, and participants in a timely, professional, and equitable manner.
