Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively greet and engage with guests in recreational areas, establishing a welcoming and personable rapport to enhance their leisure experience.
  • Provide detailed and enthusiastic explanations of food and beverage menu items, making personalized recommendations based on guest preferences and dietary needs.
  • Accurately take guest orders, paying close attention to special requests and allergies, and precisely enter them into the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Skillfully coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure the timely and accurate preparation and assembly of all food and beverage orders.
  • Deliver orders to guests at various locations, including poolside loungers, cabanas, and beach chairs, ensuring proper presentation, temperature, and quality.
  • Anticipate guest needs by regularly circulating through the assigned service area, offering refills, additional items, and general assistance without being intrusive.
  • Ensure the comfort and satisfaction of guests by providing and setting up amenities such as towels, umbrellas, and resolving any environmental concerns.
  • Process all guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit cards, and room charges in accordance with established accounting procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the property's amenities, daily events, and hours of operation to effectively answer a wide range of guest inquiries.
  • Execute responsible alcohol service, verifying guest ages and monitoring consumption to prevent over-serving and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Professionally and promptly resolve any guest issues or complaints, taking ownership of the situation and escalating to a supervisor when necessary to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Actively contribute to revenue generation through confident, suggestive selling and upselling of premium food items, specialty cocktails, and promotional offers.
  • Manage a designated service station or a set of private cabanas, ensuring all assigned guests receive consistent, high-level attention and personalized service.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties for the recreational service area, including the meticulous setup and breakdown of service stations, furniture, and equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the entire service area, including clearing used dishes, wiping down tables, and ensuring the environment is pristine and inviting.
    ll- Monitor and restock all service supplies, including glassware, silverware, condiments, and linens, throughout the shift to ensure operational readiness.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards as mandated by health department regulations and internal company policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members, including bussers, food runners, bartenders, and hosts, to create a seamless, efficient, and positive service flow.
  • Assist in the setup, service, and breakdown for special events, private parties, or functions held within the recreational areas of the property.
  • Uphold all brand standards and service protocols, consistently representing the property with a high level of professionalism, polish, and enthusiasm.

  • Assist in conducting regular inventory counts of beverages, paper goods, and other critical service supplies.
  • Support the recreation or attendant teams with tasks such as towel distribution and lounge chair organization during peak operational periods.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings and ongoing training sessions to stay current on new menu items, promotions, and evolving service standards.
  • Contribute to maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of the recreational area by reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate department.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Point of Sale (POS) System Operation: Proficiency in operating common POS systems (e.g., Micros, Toast, Aloha) for order entry and payment processing.
  • Food and Beverage Pairing Knowledge: A solid understanding of menu items to make informed recommendations for food and drink pairings.
  • Tray & Beverage Carrying Techniques: The physical ability and technical skill to safely carry heavily loaded trays through crowded and uneven areas.
  • Alcohol Service Certification: Valid certification (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol) for responsible serving of alcoholic beverages.
  • Cash Handling and Transaction Processing: Accuracy in handling cash, processing credit cards, and managing guest checks and financial transactions.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 6 months to 2 years in a food and beverage or high-touch guest service role.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in an upscale resort, private club, or poolside/outdoor dining environment is highly desirable. Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced setting is a significant asset.
