  • Conduct prescription pickup, cash/point-of-sale transactions, returns, and proper reversal procedures while maintaining adherence to state laws and store policies for controlled returns or waste.
  • Perform medication reconciliation and collect accurate medication histories during admission or transitions of care, communicating discrepancies to pharmacists and clinical teams to reduce medication errors.
  • Participate in medication room/IV cleanroom environmental monitoring, compounding competency assessments, and ongoing skills validation to meet accreditation and regulatory expectations.
  • Label, package, and prepare specialty and high-cost biologic medications per manufacturer, cold-chain, and handling requirements, including temperature monitoring and traceability.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and HIPAA-compliant documentation for counseling, clinical interventions, adverse event reports, and medication errors, escalating to the pharmacist when appropriate.
  • Lead daily workflows to optimize prescription throughput: triage incoming calls, prepare prescriptions for verification, manage refill requests, and prioritize pharmacist clinical checks to maintain service-level targets.
  • Triage and resolve medication-related inquiries from prescribers and patients, prepare information packets, and coordinate with the pharmacist for clinical clarifications, dose adjustments, or therapeutic substitutions.
  • Administer point-of-care testing support tasks where permitted (e.g., specimen handling, documentation), and coordinate with clinical staff for results management and follow-up.
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts by participating in medication safety committees, adverse event investigations, root cause analyses, and implementing process changes to reduce risk.
  • Train and precept new technicians or pharmacy interns on site-specific workflows, policies, sterile compounding procedures, automation equipment, and regulatory compliance to ensure consistent practice.
