Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide proactive and strategic legal advice to various business units, including R&D, marketing, sales, and operations, on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret new and proposed legislation, regulations, and industry codes that could impact the company's products, services, and overall business operations.
  • Act as the primary legal liaison with federal and state regulatory agencies, managing inquiries, investigations, audits, and formal reporting requirements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements with a focus on regulatory compliance, including clinical trial agreements, vendor contracts, and marketing service agreements.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of corporate compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure adherence to applicable laws.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of business activities, product launches, and marketing campaigns to identify potential regulatory and legal exposures, and devise practical mitigation strategies.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of regulatory submissions, applications, and registrations required for product approval and market access, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Provide authoritative legal counsel on advertising and promotional materials to ensure claims are substantiated and compliant with FTC, FDA, and other relevant advertising standards.
  • Direct and oversee internal investigations into potential compliance breaches or allegations of non-compliance, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective compliance training programs for employees at all levels of the organization to foster a strong culture of compliance and ethics.
  • Advise senior leadership and the Board of Directors on critical regulatory risks and developments, translating complex legal concepts into clear business implications.
  • Collaborate with the product development teams from ideation to launch to embed compliance-by-design principles into new products and features.
  • Manage and direct outside counsel on specialized regulatory matters, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
  • Review and provide legal sign-off for public disclosures, press releases, and investor communications to ensure accuracy and compliance with securities regulations (if applicable).
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on data privacy and security regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), advising on data collection, processing, and transfer practices.
  • Represent the company's interests in industry trade associations and policy-making forums to help shape future regulatory frameworks.
  • Handle the legal aspects of product recalls, market withdrawals, and other corrective actions in close coordination with quality assurance and public relations teams.
  • Provide critical regulatory due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic corporate transactions.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive system for tracking regulatory changes and communicating their impact to relevant internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the global legal team to ensure consistent application of regulatory principles across different jurisdictions and international markets.

  • Regulatory Law Expertise: Deep, specialized knowledge of the administrative and regulatory frameworks relevant to the specific industry (e.g., FDA, FTC, FCC, EPA, SEC, FINRA).

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 4-10 years of post-J.D. legal experience.
