Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately interpret, verify, and dispense prescription orders, ensuring the legality, authenticity, and therapeutic appropriateness of all medication orders.
- Provide comprehensive and empathetic patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and proper storage to ensure patient understanding and adherence.
- Oversee and direct the daily workflow and tasks of pharmacy technicians, interns, and other support staff to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain strict compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies, including HIPAA, DEA, and the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Administer immunizations and other clinical services as permitted by state law and company protocol, maintaining all required certifications and documentation.
- Conduct and document Medication Therapy Management (MTM) sessions, collaborating with patients and healthcare providers to optimize drug therapy and resolve medication-related problems.
- Proactively identify and resolve third-party insurance rejections, prior authorization requirements, and other billing issues to minimize patient disruption.
- Meticulously maintain patient profiles, ensuring all allergy information, medical history, and prescription records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify prescriptions, discuss therapeutic alternatives, and ensure coordinated patient care.
- Adapt seamlessly to the unique software systems, operational procedures, and team dynamics of each assigned pharmacy location.
- Execute all opening and closing procedures of the pharmacy department, including cash handling, system startup/shutdown, and securing the premises.
- Monitor prescription processing for potential drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, contraindications, and other medication-related risks, intervening as necessary.
- Uphold company-wide operational and customer service standards consistently across all assigned locations, acting as a brand ambassador.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by ordering medications and supplies, processing returns, managing recalls, and conducting regular cycle counts to prevent stock-outs and reduce waste.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and security of all pharmaceuticals, with a heightened focus on controlled substances and refrigerated products.
- Assist in the practical training and ongoing mentorship of pharmacy technicians and students, fostering a positive and educational work environment.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:

- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state(s) of operation, and in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
