Primary Functions
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and systematic troubleshooting on a diverse range of electronic, electromechanical, or mechanical assemblies to accurately identify root causes of failures.
- Execute precise, high-quality repairs down to the component level, including the replacement of parts, soldering/desoldering of surface-mount and through-hole components, and recalibration of systems.
- Interpret and apply technical information from schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and engineering drawings to guide troubleshooting and repair processes.
- Utilize a variety of standard and specialized test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and custom diagnostic software, to test and validate functionality.
- Diligently document all repair activities, including faults found, actions taken, parts used, and labor time, within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or service database.
- Disassemble and reassemble complex devices and machinery with precision, ensuring all components are correctly fitted and aligned according to manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct final functional testing and quality assurance checks on repaired units to verify that all issues have been resolved and the product meets performance standards before being returned to service.
- Manage a personal inventory of spare parts, submitting requisitions for new stock as needed to ensure availability and minimize repair delays.
- Adhere strictly to all workplace safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions, and proper handling of tools and materials.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, supervisors, or external customers to provide clear updates on repair status, estimated completion times, and technical findings.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment to proactively identify potential issues and extend the operational lifespan of the assets.
- Analyze recurring failures and provide detailed feedback to engineering or quality assurance teams to contribute to product improvements and serviceability enhancements.
- Clean, maintain, and calibrate personal tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure they remain in excellent working condition.
- Update device firmware or software as part of the repair process to ensure units are running on the latest, most stable versions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians or apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices for diagnostics and repair.
- Escalate highly complex or unresolvable issues to Senior Technicians, Technical Leads, or Engineering departments with clear and concise documentation of the problem.
- Efficiently manage workload and prioritize repairs based on service level agreements (SLAs), customer needs, or production urgencies to meet turnaround time targets.
- Read and comprehend work orders and service tickets to understand the reported issue and required scope of work.
- Perform failure analysis on returned materials (RMA) to determine the cause of in-field failures and report findings to the appropriate departments.
- Assist in the setup, installation, and initial testing of new equipment or machinery within the facility.
