Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively monitor inventory levels on the sales floor throughout the day, identifying and anticipating products that are running low to prevent out-of-stock situations.
- Efficiently and accurately retrieve products from backroom storage locations, pallets, and overstock areas to restock shelves, displays, and designated selling spaces.
- Execute the unloading, sorting, and staging of incoming merchandise from delivery trucks, ensuring all items are accounted for and routed to the correct department or storage area.
- Utilize handheld technology, such as RF scanners and mobile devices, to process shipments, update inventory counts, and track the movement of goods within the store's systems.
- Maintain strict adherence to planograms and visual merchandising standards, ensuring products are placed in their correct locations with proper facing and signage.
- Organize and maintain the backroom and overstock areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient environment where inventory is easily located and accessed.
- Perform regular cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure the accuracy of the on-hand data in the inventory management system, investigating and reporting discrepancies.
- Diligently inspect products for damage, defects, or approaching expiration dates during the stocking process, properly processing and removing items according to company policy.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team and department managers to communicate stock levels, report on replenishment progress, and understand upcoming promotional needs.
- Prepare the sales floor for business by ensuring all shelves are fully stocked, fronted, and recovered before the store opens or during designated replenishment shifts.
- Manage the processing of customer returns to stock, verifying the condition of the product and accurately placing it back into its correct location on the sales floor or in overstock.
- Implement price changes, promotional signage, and product ticketing with a high degree of accuracy to ensure pricing integrity for customers.
- Support e-commerce operations by assisting with picking, packing, and staging "Buy Online, Pick-up In Store" (BOPIS) and "Ship from Store" (SFS) orders.
- Prioritize replenishment tasks based on sales data, promotional calendars, and real-time customer demand to maximize product availability and drive sales.
Secondary Functions
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers on the sales floor who are looking for specific products, guiding them to the correct location.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and clear aisle maintenance.
- Assist in setting up and taking down promotional displays, endcaps, and seasonal merchandise areas as directed by the merchandising team.
- Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes, packaging materials, and other waste in designated recycling and trash compactors.
