Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain recurring business reports and interactive dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.
  • Translate complex business requirements from stakeholders into detailed technical specifications for report generation and underlying data models.
  • Extract, clean, and transform large datasets from multiple sources, including SQL databases, ERP/CRM systems, and flat files, to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis to identify significant trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing actionable insights to support strategic and tactical decision-making.
  • Communicate and present analytical findings, report outcomes, and data-driven recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Automate and streamline reporting processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of critical information.
  • Validate and audit data, calculations, and report outputs to maintain the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency across all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations, to deeply understand their reporting needs and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive library of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Respond to and fulfill a high volume of ad-hoc data and report requests from various business units, providing timely and precise information.
  • Create and maintain thorough documentation for all reports, data sources, and business logic to ensure transparency, reusability, and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor the performance and usage of existing reports and data pipelines, proactively troubleshooting and resolving any issues that impact data delivery or accuracy.
  • Train end-users and business stakeholders on how to effectively use and interpret BI tools, reports, and dashboards to foster a data-literate culture.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on data discrepancies and collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to implement permanent fixes and data quality improvements.
  • Support strategic planning, forecasting, and modeling initiatives by providing historical data sets and comprehensive trend analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the data and reporting lifecycle and recommend innovative tools or techniques to enhance capabilities.

  • Ensure all reporting activities are in strict compliance with internal data governance policies and external data privacy regulations.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new data warehouse structures and data marts to better support evolving reporting requirements.
  • Manage report distribution schedules and user access controls to ensure the right information reaches the right audience at the right time.
  • Synthesize large, complex datasets into concise, easy-to-understand executive summaries and visual presentations for leadership.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to pinpoint areas for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and revenue growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies that can enhance the organization's reporting and analytics capabilities.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, Power Query, and macros.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with SQL for querying, manipulating, and extracting data from relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Demonstrable expertise with one or more Business Intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Qlik.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language for data analysis, such as Python (with Pandas, NumPy) or R, is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with CRM and ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite) to extract and understand relevant business data.
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical analysis and its practical application to business problems.
