Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Lead daily store operations to ensure a consistently excellent customer experience while meeting or exceeding weekly and monthly sales targets, conversion rates, and average transaction value KPIs.
- Coach, mentor and develop a team of sales associates and supervisors through structured 1:1s, on-the-job training, role play and product knowledge sessions to increase individual and team selling performance.
- Prepare accurate weekly staff schedules based on sales forecasts, traffic patterns and labor budgets; monitor time and attendance to control labor costs and ensure adequate coverage.
- Execute planograms and visual merchandising standards, including seasonal resets, promotional displays and window merchandising to maximize product visibility and drive promotional conversion.
- Manage inventory control and replenishment processes: conduct regular cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, reconcile variances, set PAR levels, and coordinate replenishment to minimize out-of-stocks and overstock.
- Oversee cash handling, daily deposits and POS reconciliation; enforce cash control policies and complete cash variance reporting in line with corporate procedures.
- Lead opening and closing procedures, store walkthroughs and end-of-day audits to ensure consistent operational readiness, safety, and presentation standards.
- Drive loss prevention initiatives by identifying shrink risks, enforcing security protocols, coordinating with loss prevention teams, and implementing employee training to reduce theft and fraud.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and complex service recovery situations; apply problem-solving and de-escalation techniques to protect brand reputation and retain customers.
- Recruit, interview, onboard and orient new hires; ensure documentation, training plans and probation reviews are completed to integrate talent quickly and effectively.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set measurable development plans and deliver feedback to improve individual metrics such as sales, conversion, and customer satisfaction scores.
- Analyze daily, weekly and monthly sales reports, traffic insights and KPI dashboards; translate findings into action plans (staffing adjustments, promotions, in-store initiatives) to improve performance.
- Implement promotional and pricing strategies in-store, ensure signage accuracy, and coordinate timing of markdowns and clearance events to protect margin and inventory flow.
- Coordinate vendor deliveries, inbound shipments and back-of-house organization; inspect shipments for accuracy and condition and resolve discrepancies with supply chain or vendors.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local labor laws, health and safety regulations, food safety (if applicable) and company policies; complete required training and documentation.
- Manage payroll inputs, timecard approvals and escalate irregularities to the Store Manager; work within labor budget while maximizing service levels.
- Oversee store-level merchandising projects and cross-functional initiatives (marketing activations, inventory resets, new product launches) with district and regional partners.
- Facilitate CRM and loyalty program enrollment and execution at point-of-sale to grow customer lifetime value and participation in promotional campaigns.
- Prepare and submit timely operational reports (shrink reports, incident reports, daily sales summaries, compliance checklists) to Store Manager and District leadership.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize conversion, reduce checkout times, increase units per transaction and streamline store processes.
- Ensure store cleanliness, fixture maintenance and a safe environment for employees and customers; manage vendor contractors and maintenance requests when needed.
- Support visual and experiential merchandising for special events, private shopping appointments, and community outreach events to build local brand connection.
- Monitor and enforce product display accuracy, pricing integrity and SKU placement to reduce customer friction and support omnichannel fulfillment accuracy.
- Mentor potential internal candidates for promotion, develop succession plans, and actively participate in talent reviews and store-level development initiatives.
Secondary Functions
- Partner with e‑commerce and fulfillment teams to support buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPIS), ship-from-store and return-to-store processes, ensuring seamless omnichannel experiences.
- Assist with ad hoc analytical requests and local store-level metric deep dives, providing contextual insight to district/regional managers to support strategic decisions.
- Represent the store in community outreach, local marketing initiatives and partnership activations to drive foot traffic and local brand affinity.
