Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Engage with customers in a consultative manner, actively listening to their project needs to provide expert recommendations on paper types, printing methods, sizing, and finishing options.
  • Translate customer visions into tangible products by preparing, reviewing, and correcting digital files for print, ensuring that all specifications for color, layout, and resolution are met.
  • Independently operate and maintain a wide array of complex printing and finishing equipment, including digital color presses, wide-format inkjet printers, laminators, cutters, and binding machines.
  • Generate accurate price quotes for custom jobs, clearly explaining the value and cost breakdown to customers to facilitate sales and manage project budgets effectively.
  • Manage the entire production workflow from order intake to final pickup, meticulously tracking job statuses, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional services, such as graphic design support, premium paper stocks, or direct mail services, to enhance customer projects and drive revenue.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout their project, providing regular updates, answering questions, and resolving any issues with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Uphold stringent quality control standards by meticulously inspecting all finished orders for accuracy, consistency, and overall excellence before delivering them to the customer.
  • Educate customers on the full suite of available print and marketing services, effectively demonstrating how these offerings can help them achieve their personal or business goals.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling cash, credit, and account payments with integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on printing equipment to minimize downtime, ensure consistent output quality, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current industry trends, new products, and emerging technologies in the print and marketing space.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with repeat business clients, becoming their trusted advisor for all future printing and marketing needs.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing shipping and logistics for print jobs, ensuring packages are prepared correctly and dispatched or received on schedule.
  • Interpret and follow detailed work orders to ensure every aspect of a customer's request is fulfilled accurately, from quantity and stock to special finishing instructions.

  • Digital Printing Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting high-speed digital copiers, wide-format printers, and related machinery.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Foundational knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator for file preparation, pre-flighting, and minor design adjustments.
  • Finishing & Binding: Hands-on skill with various finishing techniques including cutting, folding, laminating, and multiple binding methods (e.g., coil, comb, tape).
  • Point of Sale (POS) Systems: Experience processing sales, returns, and custom orders through retail POS software.
  • Color Management: A fundamental understanding of color theory (CMYK vs. RGB) and calibration to ensure accurate and consistent color output.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of experience in a customer-facing role.

Preferred: Direct experience in a retail copy/print center, commercial print shop, or a role involving customer service and graphic production. Familiarity with print-on-demand workflows is a significant advantage.
