Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Monitor daily inventory levels and execute replenishment tasks to ensure product availability on the sales floor, prioritizing high-turn and promotional items to reduce out-of-stocks and lost sales.
  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments accurately; verify counts, document discrepancies, and update the WMS or inventory system to maintain real-time stock accuracy.
  • Use RF scanners and handheld devices to locate inventory, complete put-away tasks, generate inventory adjustments, and maintain data integrity between backroom and POS systems.
  • Execute scheduled and opportunistic shelf restocking and merchandising activities, implementing planogram directives and promotional displays to maximize visual standards and conversion.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and ad-hoc inventory audits, reconcile variances, research root causes, and escalate recurrent discrepancies to inventory control or store management.
  • Rotate merchandise and manage expiration-sensitive or seasonal inventory following FIFO/LIFO policies to minimize markdowns and spoilage.
  • Price merchandise, apply tags, and perform markdowns or promotional price changes accurately and in a timely manner to reflect current merchandising strategies.
  • Unload delivery trucks and pallets safely and efficiently, breaking down bulk shipments for put-away and preparing excess stock for secondary storage or transfers.
  • Prepare transfer orders, stage merchandise for shipment, and coordinate with distribution or other store locations to optimize inventory flows and reduce overstocks.
  • Maintain organized and compliant backroom and sales-floor storage, including proper stacking, labeling, and clear pathways to meet safety and fire-code requirements.
  • Assist customers and frontline staff with product location, inventory inquiries, and availability checks while maintaining a customer-first service approach.
  • Execute seasonal resets, planogram changes, and promotional set-ups on schedule, coordinating with merchandising and store leadership to meet rollout deadlines.
  • Maintain loss-prevention practices through secure handling, accurate documentation, and collaboration with store security teams on suspicious activity or shrink trends.
  • Document and report damaged, defective, or missing merchandise; process returns to vendor or disposition per company policy to protect margin and inventory accuracy.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate inventory status, critical shortages, and replenishment plans to store leadership and merchandising partners.
  • Support omnichannel fulfillment activities such as click-and-collect, ship-from-store, and curbside pickup by staging and tracking orders to ensure on-time customer fulfillment.
  • Conduct periodic deep dives into product performance with store management—highlighting slow sellers, fast movers, and suggested replenishment adjustments—to support merchandising decisions.
  • Train and coach temporary staff or newly assigned associates on safe material handling, RF device usage, stocking techniques, and store-specific replenishment procedures.
  • Maintain and operate basic material-handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks, and, where certified, forklifts) safely and in accordance with company policies.
  • Execute daily housekeeping tasks to ensure sales floor and backroom cleanliness, including properly disposing of packing materials and maintaining aisle integrity for customer safety.
  • Support pricing accuracy by reconciling shelf tags with POS pricing, escalating mismatches, and performing corrective label or shelf-tag updates as required.
  • Document process improvements and contribute actionable suggestions to reduce replenishment cycle time, improve stock accuracy, and lower shrink.

  • Coordinate with corporate merchandising and distribution teams to prioritize replenishment of fast-selling or promoted SKUs during peak periods.
  • Support seasonal inventory planning by providing store-level insights into customer demand, peak selling times, and local assortment preferences.
