Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute the preparation, chopping, slicing, and dicing of a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, and proteins according to precise recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Artfully arrange and continuously replenish all salad bar items to ensure a fresh, full, and visually appealing display for customers throughout the day.
- Proactively monitor and maintain proper food temperatures in both hot and cold wells, meticulously recording data in temperature logs to ensure food safety compliance.
- Greet customers warmly, answer questions about ingredients and dietary information, and provide helpful suggestions to enhance their purchasing decisions.
- Operate scales to accurately weigh customer selections and use the point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions efficiently and correctly.
- Uphold stringent food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, preventing cross-contamination, and adhering to all local health department regulations.
- Systematically rotate all products using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to minimize spoilage and ensure maximum freshness for our guests.
- Conduct thorough and regular cleaning of the salad bar station, all utensils, food preparation surfaces, and surrounding areas to maintain a pristine and safe environment.
- Assist in managing inventory by communicating low-stock items to the department manager and participating in weekly stock counts.
- Skillfully prepare pre-packaged salads, fruit bowls, and other grab-and-go items, ensuring they are properly portioned, packaged, and labeled with dates and ingredients.
- Breakdown the salad bar at the end of the day, properly storing or disposing of all food items according to company policy.
- Provide exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for every shopper.
- Proactively check for and remove any expired or substandard products from the display to maintain the highest quality standards.
- Prepare specialty and custom-ordered salads for customers, paying close attention to their specific requests and dietary needs.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all salad bar offerings, including potential allergens, nutritional information, and sourcing details.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of knives, slicers, and other kitchen equipment to prevent injuries.
- Collaborate effectively with team members across the prepared foods department to ensure smooth operations and comprehensive customer support.
- Monitor the freshness of dressings, toppings, and other condiments, preparing fresh batches as needed throughout the shift.
- Manage waste and spoilage by following established procedures for tracking and reporting discarded products.
