Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage with walk-in, phone, and online customers to thoroughly understand their project needs and recommend the most appropriate products or equipment for their application.
  • Drive sales and rental revenue by expertly demonstrating product features and benefits, upselling premium options, and cross-selling complementary items and services.
  • Generate, explain, and manage detailed rental contracts, ensuring all terms, conditions, insurance requirements, and safety protocols are clearly communicated and properly documented.
  • Coordinate the intricate logistics of equipment or product delivery and pickup, communicating effectively with customers and the operations team to ensure punctual and reliable service.
  • Maintain a deep and current knowledge base of the entire rental inventory, including technical specifications, operational applications, availability, and pricing structures.
  • Qualify potential customers by skillfully identifying their needs, budget constraints, and decision-making authority to build a robust and actionable sales pipeline.
  • Negotiate pricing, rental duration, and contract terms within established company guidelines to secure new business and foster long-term customer loyalty and repeat transactions.
  • Process all sales and rental transactions accurately and efficiently using the company’s point-of-sale (POS) and rental management software systems.
  • Conduct proactive follow-up with customers post-rental to ensure complete satisfaction, address any latent concerns, and inquire about future project needs or opportunities.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints, disputes, or service issues promptly and professionally, escalating complex cases to management when necessary to ensure a positive resolution.
  • Perform strategic outbound sales calls to existing and prospective customers to promote new products, highlight special offers, and generate new leads.
  • Assist in maintaining the showroom, yard, and merchandise displays to ensure a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment for all customers.
  • Conduct basic operational checks and thorough inspections on returning rental equipment to accurately assess for any damage, wear, or immediate maintenance needs.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate customer records and detailed interaction logs within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Strive to achieve or exceed established individual and team sales targets, rental utilization goals, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).

Secondary Functions

  • Assist with the execution of regular physical inventory counts and system audits to ensure the accuracy of stock levels and asset tracking.
  • Prepare and maintain clear, concise reports on sales activities, rental utilization rates, and customer feedback for periodic review by management.
  • Collaborate closely with the service or maintenance department to schedule necessary repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring optimal equipment readiness and availability.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, product knowledge seminars, and professional development training sessions to continuously enhance skills and expertise.
  • Support company marketing initiatives by distributing promotional materials, gathering customer contact information for campaigns, and representing the brand professionally.
  • Handle a variety of administrative duties related to the rental process, such as filing contracts, processing credit applications, and managing payment-related paperwork.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, actively promoting a safe environment for both colleagues and customers at all times.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in using industry-specific rental management software and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for tracking leads and customer interactions.
