Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  1. Greet customers promptly and courteously as they enter the store or engage online, identify their needs and offer effective product recommendations.
  2. Engage with customers to build rapport, answer product questions, explain features and benefits, and support their purchase decisions.
  3. Operate the point‑of‑sale (POS) system accurately for sales transactions, returns, exchanges, and ensure cash‑handling integrity.
  4. Maintain knowledge of current promotions, pricing, inventory levels and product changes to proactively inform customers.
  5. Assist in achieving store or team sales targets by upselling, cross‑selling and contributing to sales campaigns.
  6. Restock shelves, replenish merchandise on the sales floor, organize back‑stock areas and ensure the display is attractive and customer‑friendly.
  7. Maintain visual merchandising standards: set up displays, signage, promotional areas and ensure the sales environment is clean, tidy and inviting.
  8. Monitor inventory levels, assist in stock takes or cycle counts, receive new deliveries, verify contents and coordinate with warehouse or stock team.
  9. Handle customer enquiries, complaints or feedback in a professional and timely manner, escalate to management when necessary.
  10. Update customer records, input sales data and manage enquiries in CRM or internal databases to support follow‑up and loyalty activities.
  11. Collaborate with colleagues, support new team members or temporary staff in product knowledge, system use and customer service standards.
  12. Assist in organising sales events, product launches or promotional activities in‑store or online and ensure flawless execution.
  13. Support administrative tasks such as preparing sales reports, tracking order progress, following up with suppliers or coordinating deliveries.
  14. Monitor competitor products, pricing and customer preferences; provide feedback to management to support merchandising and sales strategies.
  15. Maintain professional appearance, consistent with brand standards, and ensure the store or sales area presents a trustworthy and inviting atmosphere.
  16. Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet customer demand and support store operations during peak periods.
  17. Ensure compliance with all company policies, store procedures, safety guidelines, cash handling rules and data‑protection protocols.
  18. Assist with online sales or telephone enquiries when required: take orders, arrange delivery or click‑and‑collect, and support omnichannel customer experience.
  19. Follow up on outstanding customer orders, confirm delivery details, track shipments and communicate status updates to customers.
  20. Continuously update product knowledge, industry trends and brand information through training sessions or self‑study, to maintain high‑quality service and sales conversion.
  21. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, suggest enhancements to the sales floor, operations or customer service experience.
  22. Support end‑of‑day reconciliation: assist with till closure, cash balancing, deposit preparation and ensure accurate financial reporting.
