Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Greet customers upon arrival, engage in friendly conversation and determine their needs to offer tailored product recommendations.
- Provide accurate product information, explain features, benefits and usage to support informed purchase decisions.
- Achieve and exceed individual and store sales goals, up‑sell and cross‑sell complementary items to maximize revenue.
- Operate point‑of‑sale (POS) systems, process payments, handle returns/exchanges and balance cash drawers with precision.
- Maintain current knowledge of promotions, pricing, stock levels and product changes to proactively inform customers.
- Ensure visual merchandising standards are upheld: arrange displays, restock shelves, and keep the sales floor tidy and inviting.
- Assist with inventory control: perform cycle counts, receive shipments, replenish back‑stock and report discrepancies.
- Build lasting customer relationships by providing personalized follow‑up, loyalty programme awareness and referrals.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues or complaints professionally, escalating when necessary to maintain satisfaction.
- Identify customer needs through active listening and observation, then recommend solutions that balance sales objectives and customer benefit.
- Promote brand values and act as a brand ambassador, ensuring that customer interactions reflect the company’s image and service standards.
- Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily, weekly and monthly store targets, maintain positive team culture and share best practices.
- Monitor marketplace trends, competitor activities and product feedback; share insights with the team to enhance selling strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies including loss‑prevention, safety procedures and proper handling of cash and merchandise.
- Support opening and closing store procedures, including store setup, cash register checks, end‑of‑day reconciliation and cleaning.
- Assist in training new sales associates by sharing product knowledge, demonstrating POS use and modelling effective customer engagement.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales records (including CRM tools where applicable), and ensure prompt follow‑up on customer enquiries.
- Participate in promotional events, seasonal campaigns or product launches and actively engage customers in related activities.
- Adapt to flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet store staffing requirements and customer demand.
- Stand for long periods, lift merchandise or stock as required, and ensure the sales floor remains safe, clean and well‑organized.
