As a Sales Specialist in our Appliances department, you are the face of our brand and the primary driver of sales for one of our most important product categories. Your core mission is to create an exceptional customer experience by combining deep product knowledge with a genuine desire to solve a customer's needs. You will guide clients through the complexities of choosing refrigerators, ovens, laundry systems, and more, transforming a potentially overwhelming decision into a confident purchase. Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner to understand their appliance needs, project scope, lifestyle requirements, and budget constraints.
  • Provide in-depth, expert-level knowledge on a wide range of major appliances, including refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, and laundry units, from various leading brands.
  • Conduct compelling product demonstrations, effectively highlighting key features, benefits, and technological innovations to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Guide customers seamlessly through the entire sales cycle, from initial consultation and needs analysis to product selection, quoting, and closing the sale.
  • Achieve and consistently exceed individual and team sales targets, revenue goals, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) such as warranty attachment and financing.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline by diligently following up on customer inquiries, open quotes, and leads via phone, email, and CRM systems.
  • Expertly explain and sell value-added services, including extended warranties, protection plans, financing options, delivery, and professional installation packages.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with a diverse client base, including homeowners, contractors, builders, and interior designers to foster repeat business and referrals.
  • Process sales transactions, special orders, and financing applications accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system and other retail software.
  • Stay continuously updated on new appliance technologies, industry trends, competitor activities, and manufacturer promotions through ongoing training and self-directed learning.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and post-sale issues with empathy and a solutions-oriented approach to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Manage complex sales involving multi-piece kitchen packages or builder contracts, coordinating multiple products, delivery timelines, and installation requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive comparisons between different models and brands, clearly articulating the unique value proposition of each to perfectly match customer needs.
  • Execute outbound communication to re-engage past customers and inform them of new promotions, products, or upcoming sales events.
  • Partner with store leadership to execute sales promotions and in-store events designed to drive traffic and increase appliance sales.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain the visual merchandising standards of the appliance department, ensuring products are clean, correctly priced, and attractively displayed.
  • Collaborate with inventory and logistics teams to manage stock levels, check availability, track special orders, and ensure accurate delivery scheduling.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, sales training sessions, and product knowledge workshops to enhance skills and contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new sales associates on products, processes, and effective sales techniques.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment for both colleagues and customers within the appliance department.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis related to sales performance.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap by providing frontline sales insights.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements for better sales tracking.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team if applicable to sales analytics projects.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • In-depth Appliance Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of features, benefits, and brands across kitchen, laundry, and other major appliances.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Systems: Proficiency in operating retail POS software for transactions, returns, and order management.
  • CRM Software Proficiency: Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to manage leads and track customer interactions.
  • Sales Quoting & Invoicing: Ability to generate accurate and professional sales quotes and invoices for complex orders.
  • Financing & Warranty Plans: Knowledge of consumer financing applications and the ability to articulate the value of extended service plans.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5 years of experience in a retail sales or customer-facing role, preferably in a commission-based or goal-oriented environment.

Preferred: Direct experience in selling major appliances (e.g., refrigerators, laundry, cooking ranges, dishwashers) or other big-ticket items like furniture or electronics is highly desirable. Experience working with trade professionals (contractors, designers) is a significant plus.
