Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Act as the primary liaison between business departments and the IT team to elicit, analyze, validate, and document business requirements for SAP-related projects and enhancements.
  • Translate complex business needs into detailed, comprehensive functional specifications, process flow diagrams, and system design documents for the technical development team.
  • Conduct thorough As-Is and To-Be business process analysis, identifying gaps and opportunities for process optimization and automation within the SAP landscape.
  • Perform hands-on configuration of core SAP modules (such as FICO, SD, MM, PP) to align with defined business requirements and solution designs.
  • Lead and facilitate requirements gathering workshops, design sessions, and stakeholder interviews with cross-functional teams to achieve consensus on solutions.
  • Develop and execute rigorous test plans, including creating test scripts for unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), and coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solution quality.
  • Provide expert-level functional support for production SAP systems, including investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents and user-reported issues.
  • Create and maintain high-quality system documentation, including configuration rationale, functional design documents (FDDs), user manuals, and training materials.
  • Play a key role in SAP S/4HANA implementation and migration projects, contributing to data conversion strategies, cutover planning, and post-go-live hypercare support.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes on the SAP system and business processes, managing the change request lifecycle from initial assessment to implementation.
  • Design, develop, and deliver end-user training programs and materials to drive user adoption and ensure proficiency with new features and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to define project scope, provide accurate effort estimates, report on progress, and proactively identify risks and dependencies.
  • Champion and enforce master data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across the SAP ecosystem.
  • Analyze intricate business problems and architect innovative, scalable, and sustainable solutions utilizing standard SAP functionality and best practices.
  • Support critical business cycles, such as month-end and year-end financial closing, by ensuring system stability and providing timely assistance.
  • Stay abreast of the latest SAP innovations, S/4HANA features, and industry trends to provide strategic recommendations and contribute to the technology roadmap.
  • Develop ad-hoc queries, custom reports, and analytical tools to provide business users with actionable insights from SAP data.
  • Guide and mentor junior analysts and business super-users, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Manage interfaces and integration points between SAP and other third-party or legacy systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process execution.
  • Ensure that all proposed solutions comply with established architectural standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX).

  • Contribute to the organization's broader data strategy and SAP technology roadmap.

  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of new SAP-related tools and third-party add-on solutions.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Deep functional expertise in at least two core SAP modules (e.g., FICO, SD, MM, PP, WM, EWM).
  • Proven hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, including implementation, migration, or extensive support.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP system configuration (IMG/SPRO) to meet specific business requirements.
  • Solid understanding of the integration points between various SAP modules and with external systems.
  • Experience with data migration concepts and tools, such as LSMW or the S/4HANA Migration Cockpit (LTMC).
  • Ability to read and debug ABAP code to troubleshoot issues and validate technical designs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP reporting and analytics tools (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud, Fiori Apps, CDS Views).
  • Familiarity with project management and system development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 5-8 years of experience in a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant role with a strong focus on SAP.

  • At least 2 full lifecycle SAP implementation projects, with at least one involving S/4HANA.
  • Experience working in a large, complex enterprise environment with multiple business units.
  • Proven track record of successfully translating business needs into delivered SAP solutions.
