Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Efficiently and accurately unpack, ticket, sensor, and prepare all merchandise for the sales floor according to company standards and guidelines.
- Execute the movement of products from the stockroom to the sales floor, ensuring timely replenishment of sold-out items and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom in a clean, safe, and efficient manner, ensuring all products are easy to locate and access.
- Implement floor sets, visual merchandising directives, and promotional setups under the guidance of the store leadership and visual teams.
- Perform regular stock counts and participate in full physical inventory counts to maintain data integrity and minimize shrinkage.
- Operate RF scanners and other inventory management technology to track merchandise, process transfers, and manage stock levels effectively.
- Proactively monitor the sales floor to identify replenishment needs and communicate stock-level opportunities to the management team.
- Adhere to all loss prevention procedures and safety protocols, including the proper use of equipment like box cutters, ladders, and hand trucks.
- Manage and process damaged, defective, or returned-to-vendor (RTV) merchandise according to established company policies.
- Assist in breaking down shipment boxes and disposing of packing materials in an environmentally responsible and tidy manner.
- Ensure all merchandise is presented according to brand standards, including proper folding, hanging, and sizing.
- Collaborate with the sales team to quickly locate specific items or sizes for customers from the stockroom.
- Support the fulfillment of online orders, including Buy Online, Pick-up In-Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) services, by accurately picking and packing items.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current product inventory, including new arrivals and key items for the season.
- Systematically consolidate and rearrange merchandise in the stockroom to maximize space and improve operational workflow.
- Respond with a sense of urgency to all merchandise and replenishment requests from the sales floor team and management.
- Prepare and organize merchandise for inter-store transfers, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
- Uphold all store maintenance and cleanliness standards in both back-of-house areas and on the sales floor.
- Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed on new procedures, products, and operational goals.
Secondary Functions
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers on the sales floor when approached, helping them find products or directing them to a sales associate.
- Support the sales and cashier teams during peak traffic periods by assisting with bagging, running items, or light cleaning duties.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment by actively communicating and supporting fellow team members.
- Assist in general store upkeep, ensuring a clean and inviting shopping environment for all customers.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Operation of RF (Radio Frequency) scanners and other handheld inventory devices.
- Experience with inventory management software or Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to safely use stockroom equipment, such as ladders, pallet jacks, and box cutters.
- Knowledge of shipment receiving and processing procedures.
- Merchandise ticketing, tagging, and sensor application.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and order fulfillment tasks.
- Understanding of retail loss prevention principles.
- Competency in executing visual merchandising plans and floor sets.
- Physical ability to consistently lift, carry, and move merchandise up to 50 lbs.
