Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of the premises.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the property on foot or by vehicle to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Operate and monitor advanced closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and other surveillance equipment to observe and identify any suspicious or unusual activity.
  • Respond immediately and professionally to all security alarms, fire alarms, and medical emergencies, providing first aid or coordinating with emergency services as required.
  • Write detailed and comprehensive incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation related to security breaches, accidents, or unusual occurrences using designated software.
  • Enforce company security policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe and compliant environment for all personnel and visitors.
  • Control and manage access to sensitive or restricted areas by verifying credentials, issuing visitor badges, and maintaining accurate digital and physical access logs.
  • Provide excellent customer service by professionally assisting visitors and employees with inquiries, providing directions, and offering security-related support.
  • Perform thorough security screenings of individuals and baggage, utilizing equipment such as x-ray machines and handheld metal detectors where applicable.
  • Identify and assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities, reporting them to security management with recommendations for mitigation and improvement.
  • De-escalate and manage conflicts or confrontational situations calmly and effectively, using appropriate verbal techniques to ensure a peaceful resolution.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency response agencies during incidents to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
  • Participate in and contribute to emergency preparedness drills, evacuation procedures, and other safety training exercises to maintain a high state of readiness.
  • Operate and maintain communication systems, such as two-way radios and internal phone lines, to ensure constant contact with the security team and management.
  • Investigate and document security incidents, including theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access, by gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
  • Provide secure escorts for employees, executives, or visitors transporting valuable assets or moving through the facility during non-standard hours.
  • Manage and control vehicle access and parking in designated areas, enforcing parking regulations and directing traffic as needed to maintain order and safety.
  • Act as a key member of the Emergency Response Team, executing specific duties during crisis situations as outlined in the emergency action plan.
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures for the facility, ensuring all entry points are secured and all safety checks are completed and documented.
  • Monitor building automation and life safety systems, responding to alerts related to HVAC, power, or fire suppression systems to prevent property damage and ensure personnel safety.
  • Perform regular inspections of security equipment, including cameras, alarms, and access control hardware, to ensure they are fully operational and report any malfunctions.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist security management with the development and implementation of new security protocols and post orders.
  • Contribute to internal investigations by collecting preliminary information, preserving evidence, and providing detailed reports to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Participate in the training and mentorship of newly hired security personnel to ensure they meet team standards and procedural requirements.
  • Maintain meticulous records for lost and found property, managing its storage and return in accordance with company policy.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Valid State-Issued Security Guard License/Certification (e.g., Guard Card)
  • Proficiency in operating modern CCTV, surveillance, and access control systems
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications

Experience Requirements
