Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct regular and random patrols of the premises, both interior and exterior, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of the premises and guard against theft.
- Operate and monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems and alarms, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points to identify potential security risks.
- Write detailed and accurate narrative reports of daily activities, irregularities, and incidents, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Respond promptly and professionally to alarms and emergencies, such as medical issues, fire, or security breaches, following established protocols and providing necessary assistance.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises to maintain order and resolve conflicts.
- Control and manage access to the facility, verifying identification, issuing visitor badges, and maintaining meticulous logs of all entries and exits.
- Serve as a visible deterrent to crime and misconduct by maintaining a professional, alert, and approachable presence at all times.
- Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities to management and, when necessary, to law enforcement agencies.
- Perform security checks of buildings and grounds, identifying and reporting any safety hazards or maintenance issues discovered during patrols.
- Escort employees, contractors, and visitors within the premises as required to ensure their safety and security.
- Manage and control traffic flow and parking on the property, ensuring designated areas are used correctly and access for emergency vehicles is maintained.
- Provide immediate response and initial assessment in crisis situations, effectively de-escalating tensions and securing the scene until emergency services arrive.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the site's specific emergency procedures, including evacuation routes, shelter-in-place protocols, and communication chains.
Secondary Functions
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, employees, and visitors, offering directions and assistance in a courteous and professional manner.
- Liaise with external emergency services, including police, fire, and paramedics, providing them with critical information and access upon their arrival.
- Assist in the execution of safety and emergency drills, helping to guide personnel and providing feedback for procedural improvements.
- Receive and log packages and deliveries, ensuring they are securely stored and directed to the appropriate recipient in a timely manner.
- Conduct basic operational checks on security equipment, such as radios and flashlights, to ensure they are in good working order for each shift.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment by effectively communicating with fellow officers and supervisors during shift changes and throughout the day.
- Provide after-hours access for authorized personnel, carefully verifying credentials and documenting all activity.
