Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Collaboratively design, plan, and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans and instructional units with your partner teacher, ensuring a cohesive and integrated learning experience for all students.
- Jointly deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction using a variety of co-teaching models, such as one teach/one observe, station teaching, parallel teaching, and team teaching, to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Share responsibility for creating and maintaining a positive, safe, and well-managed classroom environment that fosters a culture of respect, collaboration, and academic curiosity.
- Co-develop and implement a comprehensive classroom management plan and system of routines to ensure smooth daily operations and maximize instructional time.
- Continuously monitor and assess student understanding and progress through a balanced mix of formative and summative assessments, including observations, projects, and standardized tests.
- Regularly meet with your teaching partner to analyze student data, reflect on instructional effectiveness, and strategically adjust teaching practices to address learning gaps and accelerate student achievement.
- Work in tandem to provide targeted small-group and individual support to students, including those with special needs, English language learners, and those requiring academic enrichment.
- Jointly manage all classroom logistics, including organizing instructional materials, managing classroom technology, and maintaining an orderly and stimulating physical space.
- Foster a strong sense of community and belonging among students, promoting positive social-emotional development and conflict-resolution skills.
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans, ensuring all accommodations and modifications are consistently met.
- Co-facilitate parent-teacher conferences and maintain proactive, positive, and consistent communication with families regarding their child's progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Engage in a continuous cycle of professional growth with your partner, providing and receiving constructive feedback to refine and enhance your collective teaching practice.
