Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute precise oil and filter changes on a diverse range of domestic and imported vehicles, strictly adhering to manufacturer specifications for oil type, viscosity, and volume.
- Conduct comprehensive multi-point vehicle inspections, meticulously checking belts, hoses, brakes, suspension components, exhaust systems, and tire condition to identify wear and potential safety issues.
- Accurately check and top off all essential vehicle fluids, including coolant, power steering fluid, windshield washer solvent, transmission fluid, and brake fluid, using the correct fluid types for each system.
- Perform professional tire services, including rotations, balancing, and pressure adjustments, to promote even tire wear and optimal vehicle handling.
- Measure tire tread depth and inspect for irregular wear patterns or damage, providing accurate information to the Service Advisor for customer recommendations.
- Replace engine and cabin air filters as needed to ensure optimal engine performance and maintain air quality within the vehicle's passenger compartment.
- Inspect and replace vehicle wiper blades to guarantee clear visibility for the driver in all weather conditions.
- Perform thorough battery tests using diagnostic equipment, clean terminals, and perform battery replacements when necessary, ensuring proper installation and connection.
- Clearly and accurately document all services performed and inspection findings on the repair order, utilizing the shop's computer system or designated forms.
- Communicate all findings, especially any identified safety concerns or recommended services, directly and professionally to the designated Service Advisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the service bay, cleaning up spills immediately and properly storing tools and equipment.
- Safely operate and maintain shop equipment, including vehicle lifts, air compressors, pneumatic tools, and fluid exchange machines, following all safety protocols.
- Responsible for the proper disposal of used oil, filters, tires, and other hazardous waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations and shop policies.
- Assist senior technicians with minor repairs or maintenance tasks as directed, providing a valuable opportunity for hands-on learning and skill development.
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner when their vehicle enters the service lane, confirming the requested services.
- Road test vehicles as required to confirm proper operation after service or to help diagnose certain issues like vibrations or noises.
- Stay current with emerging automotive technologies and service procedures by participating in company-provided training and self-guided learning.
