Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of production and operating workers, such as inspectors, machine operators, and fabricators, across a specific shift or department.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet demanding production goals and ensure a smooth workflow between shifts.
  • Enforce strict adherence to product specifications and quality standards, conducting regular in-process checks and collaborating with the Quality Control department to resolve any deviations.

  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department, including production output, machine efficiency, waste levels (scrap), and downtime, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and development for new and existing employees on machine operation, safety protocols, and quality expectations to build a skilled and versatile team.
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment problems in real-time, diagnosing root causes and coordinating with the maintenance department to schedule repairs and preventative maintenance.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency gains, often utilizing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including Planning, Logistics, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance, to ensure a coordinated and efficient overall manufacturing process.
  • Interpret and communicate company policies, procedures, and production specifications to the team, ensuring consistent understanding and compliance.
  • Evaluate the condition of all equipment within the assigned area, initiating work orders for repairs and preventative maintenance to prevent unexpected breakdowns.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Expert Knowledge of Textile Processes: Deep, practical understanding of specific textile manufacturing disciplines such as weaving (dobby, jacquard), knitting (circular, warp), dyeing (jet, beam, pad), printing, or finishing.

Experience Requirements
