Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conceive, pitch, and develop compelling, in-depth narratives and thematic content for a variety of long-form platforms, including white papers, research reports, e-books, and feature articles.
  • Conduct comprehensive primary and secondary research on complex, niche subjects to establish genuine subject matter expertise and ensure the highest level of accuracy, depth, and authenticity.
  • Translate dense technical, academic, or industry-specific information into clear, accessible, and highly engaging content for a sophisticated but non-specialist audience.
  • Own the entire writing lifecycle for major thematic projects, from initial brainstorming and outlining to drafting, editing, and managing stakeholder feedback through to final publication.
  • Develop and maintain the core narrative and thematic pillars for our brand, ensuring a consistent and authoritative voice, tone, and perspective across all long-form content.
  • Craft powerful story structures and character-driven accounts (where applicable) to make abstract concepts more relatable and emotionally resonant.
  • Interview internal and external subject matter experts, industry leaders, and clients to gather unique insights, quotes, and perspectives that enrich our content.
  • Write compelling scripts and storyboards for video, podcast, or webinar content that explores our core themes in different multimedia formats.
  • Master the brand's voice and style guidelines, acting as a guardian for our narrative integrity and pushing its boundaries to create fresh and innovative content.
  • Proactively identify emerging trends, topics, and story angles within our industry that present opportunities for creating unique and impactful thematic content.
  • Structure complex arguments and build a persuasive case over the course of a long-form piece, guiding the reader through a logical and enlightening journey.
  • Author and co-author major annual reports or cornerstone content pieces that serve as definitive resources for our industry and audience.
  • Reimagine and repurpose cornerstone thematic content into a variety of derivative assets (e.g., blog series, infographics, social media campaigns) to maximize its reach and impact.
  • Develop and document the lore, world-building, or historical context that serves as the foundation for a cohesive and believable narrative experience.

Secondary Functions

  • Collaborate closely with SEO specialists to ensure that all thematic content is optimized for search visibility without sacrificing narrative quality or depth.
  • Partner with graphic designers, illustrators, and data visualization experts to conceptualize and integrate visual elements that enhance storytelling and data comprehension.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the overall content strategy and editorial calendar, advocating for ambitious, theme-driven projects.
  • Participate in content performance reviews, using data and analytics to understand audience engagement and inform future thematic directions.
  • Mentor junior writers or freelancers, providing guidance on research techniques, narrative structure, and adherence to our brand's voice.
