Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide dynamic leadership and direct supervision to a multidisciplinary team of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing clinical environment.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback and coaching, and facilitate professional development and continuing education opportunities for all therapy team members.
  • Ensure the department maintains continuous compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and professional regulations, including JCAHO, CARF, and CMS standards.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as patient satisfaction scores, therapist productivity, length of stay, and functional outcomes, to drive performance improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving complex patient, family, and physician concerns or complaints related to therapy services, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • Champion and lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives within the department, utilizing data to identify trends and implement strategies for enhanced care quality.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing leaders, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Manage staffing levels and schedules to ensure appropriate clinical coverage that matches patient volume and acuity, while also managing labor costs effectively.
  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, conducting regular chart audits.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, advancements, and best practices in rehabilitation therapy and healthcare management to guide departmental strategy and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referral sources and engage in marketing and community outreach activities to promote the facility's therapy services.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of all therapy equipment and the clinical environment, adhering to infection control and safety policies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of new service line development or program expansion to meet the evolving needs of the community and the organization.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Active Clinical Licensure: Must hold a current state license as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

Educational Background
