Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Act as the primary point of contact and leader for groups of travelers for the entire duration of a multi-day tour, providing 24/7 support and guidance.
- Execute the tour itinerary with precision, managing all logistical components including ground transportation, accommodation check-ins/outs, and scheduled activities.
- Deliver engaging, accurate, and culturally sensitive commentary on the history, geography, culture, and significance of the locations visited.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and cohesive group dynamic, facilitating introductions and interactions to build a strong sense of community among travelers.
- Proactively manage and resolve any issues that arise, including traveler complaints, interpersonal conflicts, medical situations, or logistical disruptions.
- Maintain absolute responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of every traveler in the group, adhering to strict safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-tour briefings to set expectations, review the itinerary, and communicate important safety and logistical information.
- Manage the tour budget meticulously, handling cash, making payments to local suppliers, and keeping detailed, accurate expense reports.
- Reconfirm all bookings and arrangements with local partners, such as hotels, transport providers, and local guides, at least 24-48 hours in advance.
- Make dynamic, informed decisions to alter itineraries as necessary due to weather, road closures, unforeseen events, or unique group interests.
- Serve as a cultural bridge, educating travelers on local customs, etiquette, and social norms to promote respectful and responsible tourism.
- Provide expert recommendations for and facilitate optional activities, dining, and shopping during free time to enhance the traveler experience.
- Uphold the company’s values and commitment to sustainable and responsible travel practices in every decision and interaction.
- Act as the first responder in any medical or other emergency, providing First Aid/CPR and coordinating with local emergency services and company headquarters.
- Maintain consistent and professional communication with the central operations office, providing regular updates on the tour's progress and any incidents.
- Confidently lead groups through a variety of environments, from bustling city centers and historical sites to remote natural landscapes.
- Gather formal and informal feedback from travelers throughout the journey to gauge satisfaction and identify areas for immediate improvement.
- Complete and submit comprehensive post-tour reports, including financial reconciliations, traveler feedback summaries, and incident reports.
- Research and maintain an up-to-date, in-depth knowledge base of the destinations, including new attractions, restaurants, and local events.
- Represent the brand with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a consistently positive attitude, ensuring travelers return with lasting positive memories.
- Skillfully manage time to ensure the tour flows smoothly, balancing scheduled activities with sufficient free time and rest for the group.
Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- First Aid & CPR Certification: Current and valid certification is mandatory. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is often highly preferred.
