Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot online booking engines, reservation systems (CRS), and property management systems (PMS) to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Analyze diverse tourism data sets, including booking trends, visitor demographics, website traffic, and guest feedback, to generate actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain interactive dashboards and performance reports for key stakeholders using business intelligence tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Provide expert technical support for all tourism-related software and hardware, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, digital signage, mobile applications, and in-room technology.
  • Integrate and manage third-party APIs from Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and other technology partners to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Administer the destination's website and mobile application, monitoring performance, user experience (UX), and implementing technical SEO improvements.
  • Implement and manage the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to segment audiences, personalize guest communications, and support loyalty initiatives.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to map tourism assets, analyze spatial patterns of visitor flow, and support sustainable destination planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to guest-facing technology, such as public Wi-Fi access, digital concierge services, and mobile key solutions.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for digital platforms, including conversion rates, session duration, bounce rates, and user engagement.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new tourism technologies and software solutions to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy compliance across all tourism-related platforms and databases.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user guides, and training materials for staff on various systems and digital tools.
  • Manage inventory and pricing updates across multiple online distribution channels in collaboration with the revenue management team to optimize occupancy and yield.
  • Liaise with technology vendors and service providers to manage contracts, ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and resolve escalated issues.
  • Conduct regular system audits to identify bugs, security vulnerabilities, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Monitor online review sites and social media data to gauge public sentiment and identify operational strengths and weaknesses.
  • Support the technical setup and on-site execution for tourism events, conferences, and trade shows, including registration systems and A/V needs.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to implement and validate tracking pixels, analytics tags, and conversion goals for digital advertising campaigns.
  • Automate repetitive data extraction and reporting tasks to improve team efficiency and provide timely data to decision-makers.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Hospitality Systems: Proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS) like Opera, Cloudbeds, or similar, and Central Reservation Systems (CRS).
  • Data & Analytics: Strong experience with BI visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), web analytics (Google Analytics 4), and advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Distribution Channels: Experience with online booking engines and channel managers (e.g., SiteMinder, RateGain).
  • CRM Software: Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or industry-specific tools for managing guest relationships.
  • Database Querying: Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL for pulling and manipulating data from relational databases.
