Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Performs advanced, in-depth diagnostics on complex agricultural equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains, to accurately identify the root cause of any malfunction.
Utilizes specialized electronic service tools and diagnostic software (e.g., John Deere Service ADVISOR, CNH EST) to troubleshoot and interpret fault codes on sophisticated electronic and computer-based systems.
Executes a full range of repairs on hydraulic and hydrostatic systems, ensuring proper pressure, flow, and functionality for all implements and attachments.
Conducts comprehensive electrical system troubleshooting and repair, from basic wiring and lighting to complex CAN bus and controller-based systems.
Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and service inspections on new and used equipment to ensure reliability and prevent future breakdowns.
Rebuilds and reconditions major components, such as engines and transmissions, according to manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
Installs, calibrates, and provides technical support for precision agriculture hardware and software, including GPS guidance systems, auto-steer, and yield monitors.
Carries out field service calls to diagnose and repair equipment on-site at customer locations, often working independently under time-sensitive conditions.
Reads and interprets technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to ensure all work is performed accurately and efficiently.
Prepares detailed, accurate, and timely service reports, work orders, and other required documentation for billing and service history records.

Performs Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and setup of new equipment to ensure it is field-ready and meets all customer and manufacturer requirements.

Maintains and services air conditioning systems on various types of equipment cabs.
Operates equipment for testing purposes to verify that all repairs have been completed successfully and the issue is resolved.
