Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Actively and diligently assist qualified tradespeople with the installation, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of various structures and systems.
Safely and proficiently operate a diverse range of hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, impact drivers, and saws, ensuring they are clean and properly maintained.
Perform rigorous manual handling and transportation of heavy materials, tools, and equipment across the worksite, always adhering to established safe lifting procedures.
Prepare and secure work areas by setting up barriers, safety signage, and temporary structures to ensure a safe environment for the entire team and the public.
Execute precise measurements, cuts, and shaping of materials such as timber, metal conduit, and PVC piping based on detailed instructions and technical drawings.
Maintain a high standard of worksite cleanliness and organization through regular housekeeping, including sweeping, waste material disposal, and proper tool storage.
Systematically load and unload materials, parts, and equipment from company vehicles and delivery trucks, cross-referencing items with delivery dockets for accuracy.
Conduct basic preventative maintenance checks on machinery and site equipment, promptly reporting any faults, damage, or operational issues to the supervising tradesperson.
Strictly follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS/OHS) regulations, policies, and site-specific safety plans without compromise.
Provide direct assistance with the assembly and disassembly of components, machinery, and formwork as directed by senior team members.
Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to effectively understand project requirements and support ongoing tasks.
Run errands to pick up urgent supplies, spare parts, and materials from local suppliers to minimize project downtime and maintain momentum.
Perform groundwork tasks as required, which may include digging trenches for services, backfilling excavations, and general site levelling.
Mix, pour, and spread construction materials like concrete, grout, or plaster under the direct guidance of a skilled professional.
Support the intricate installation of fixtures, electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, and other system components, actively learning trade-specific processes.
Assist in conducting quality control checks and inspections to ensure all completed work meets the required standards and client specifications.
Manage the on-site inventory of essential consumables like screws, bolts, and sealants, notifying the site supervisor when stock levels are running low.
