Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Oversee and direct all daily transit operations, including fixed-route, paratransit, and on-demand services, to guarantee adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and high service quality standards.

  • Manage the entire vehicle fleet lifecycle, from planning procurement and overseeing preventative maintenance schedules to strategizing vehicle replacement to maintain a state of good repair and operational readiness.
  • Analyze complex ridership data, service performance reports, and community feedback to make data-driven decisions regarding route planning, service frequency adjustments, and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and representative for public inquiries, customer complaints, and community outreach, resolving issues promptly and professionally to maintain public trust.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with other key departments, such as Planning, Maintenance, Finance, and Human Resources, to ensure the smooth integration of all transit-related activities and projects.
  • Prepare and present detailed, insightful reports on operational performance, financial status, and strategic projects to senior leadership, transit authority boards, and public stakeholders.
  • Take a lead role in labor relations activities, including participating directly in collective bargaining negotiations, administering labor agreements, and managing grievance procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Champion the evaluation and integration of new technologies, such as intelligent transportation systems (ITS), real-time passenger information systems, and automated fare collection, to improve service and the passenger experience.
