Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Safely and proficiently operate various commercial motor vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, box trucks, or flatbeds, ensuring full compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the truck and trailer, meticulously checking systems like brakes, tires, lights, and fluids, and accurately documenting findings in vehicle inspection reports.
Manage the secure and proper loading of cargo, utilizing equipment like load bars, straps, chains, and binders to prevent shifting or damage during transit, ensuring weight distribution is legal and safe.
Maintain a precise and current electronic log of duty status, driving hours, and on-duty/not-driving time in strict accordance with federal HOS (Hours of Service) regulations using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
Execute the timely pickup and delivery of freight according to a planned schedule, proactively communicating with dispatch about progress, delays, and estimated arrival times.
Navigate routes efficiently using GPS systems, maps, and road atlases, while making real-time adjustments for traffic, weather conditions, and construction to optimize delivery times.
Verify all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, manifests, and delivery receipts, ensuring that cargo counts and details are accurate before accepting or delivering a load.
