Primary Functions
- Conduct in-depth analysis of freight costs, carrier rates, and accessorial charges to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost optimization across the transportation network.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain a suite of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics related to on-time performance, cost-per-mile, carrier capacity, and service quality.

- Analyze freight lane data to identify opportunities for network optimization, including consolidation, mode shifting (e.g., LTL to FTL), and backhaul opportunities.
- Support the freight procurement and sourcing process by providing data-driven insights for RFPs (Request for Proposals) and contract negotiations with carriers.
- Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to its full potential, extracting data, configuring reporting, and identifying ways to improve system utilization for better efficiency.
- Audit and reconcile freight invoices against contracted rates and shipment data, identifying and resolving billing discrepancies to prevent financial leakage.
- Forecast future transportation capacity needs and spending based on historical trends, sales projections, and market intelligence to inform strategic planning and budgeting.
- Model the financial and operational impact of potential changes to the transportation network, such as adding new distribution centers or changing primary carriers.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Warehouse, Sales, and Customer Service teams to understand their challenges and provide analytical support to improve cross-functional workflows.
- Monitor industry trends, fuel price fluctuations, and regulatory changes to assess their potential impact on the company's transportation strategy and costs.
