Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the development of new television show concepts, from initial ideation and research to creating compelling pitch decks and bibles for network or studio presentation.
  • Oversee all creative aspects of the production, ensuring the story, tone, style, and pacing align with the established vision from pre-production through final cut.
  • Develop, manage, and track complex production budgets, ensuring the project is completed within financial constraints while maximizing production value.
  • Create and maintain detailed production schedules, timelines, and calendars for all phases, including pre-production, principal photography, and post-production.
  • Lead the hiring and management of key creative and production personnel, including directors, writers, cinematographers, production designers, and key crew members.
  • Collaborate directly with writers to break stories, develop scripts, provide constructive notes, and guide the narrative arc of the series or episode.
  • Guide and manage on-screen talent, including casting decisions, performance direction on set, and maintaining a positive and productive working environment.
  • Supervise all on-set activities during principal photography to ensure the daily schedule is met, creative goals are achieved, and unexpected problems are solved efficiently.
  • Oversee the entire post-production process, including editing, visual effects, sound design, music scoring, and color correction, providing detailed feedback to deliver the final product.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and communication bridge between the production team, network/studio executives, and other key stakeholders.
  • Source and secure all necessary resources for production, including locations, equipment rentals, props, and wardrobe, while negotiating favorable rates.
  • Manage and troubleshoot the complex logistical, creative, and interpersonal challenges that arise during a high-pressure production cycle.
  • Review dailies, rough cuts, and fine cuts, providing clear, actionable feedback to the director and editorial team to shape the final narrative.
  • Ensure all legal requirements are met, including negotiating contracts, securing talent and location releases, and clearing copyrighted material.
  • Pitch story ideas, character arcs, and episode concepts in creative meetings, effectively communicating the vision to writers, directors, and executives.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new broadcast or streaming platform mandates to ensure content remains relevant and competitive.
