  • Prepare and present concise, data-driven audit reports and executive summaries for underwriting leadership, highlighting trends, root causes and prioritized remediation actions.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for recurring underwriting errors, identifying systemic process failures, training gaps or policy ambiguities and proposing corrective solutions with measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain underwriting quality scorecards and KPIs (e.g., hit rate, severity of deviations, leakage, loss ratio implications) and report weekly/monthly/quarterly performance to stakeholders.
  • Partner with underwriting managers to design and deliver targeted coaching, feedback sessions, and re-training programs based on audit findings to improve individual and team performance.
  • Create and maintain a central repository of audit documentation, calibration notes, guidance memos and precedent rulings to unify decision-making across underwriting teams.
  • Collaborate with Product, Legal and Compliance to interpret complex policy wording and ensure underwriting practices align with contract terms and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive cross-functional projects to reduce underwriting cycle times and manual touchpoints by recommending process changes and system enhancements.
  • Implement and operate sample selection processes that ensure representative coverage by line of business, geography, and risk tier; continuously validate sampling assumptions for statistical integrity.
  • Design and run calibration sessions with senior underwriters to align scoring standards, reduce inter-rater variability and maintain audit rigor.
  • Produce and maintain management information systems (MIS) and dashboards (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) demonstrating trends, root-cause categories and remediation progress.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory developments, NAIC guidance and industry best practices related to underwriting, product compliance and fair-dealing.
  • Lead or support special investigations into potential underwriting misconduct, compliance breaches or material underwriting losses, documenting findings and recommended disciplinary or corrective actions.
  • Track remediation plans and closure rates, ensuring timely implementation and validating that corrective actions produce measurable improvements in quality metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across underwriting, claims, finance and actuarial to align QA findings with reserving, pricing and portfolio strategies.
  • Participate in system UAT (user acceptance testing) for underwriting technology changes, ensuring QA scenarios are included and decisioning outcomes validated.
