Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Supervise and lead a team of upload specialists and content coordinators to meet daily and weekly SKU upload volume targets while maintaining stringent data accuracy and completeness standards.
  • Own the end-to-end product upload workflow, including SKU creation, attribute mapping, taxonomy tagging, pricing ingestion, and status tracking across CMS, PIM, and marketplace portals.
  • Validate product titles, descriptions, bullet points, technical attributes, and SEO keywords to ensure compliance with brand guidelines and marketplace listing policies that maximize discoverability and conversion.
  • Oversee image ingestion and QA—verify resolution, aspect ratio, background, zoomability, and that all marketplace-required image types (hero, lifestyle, infographics) meet each channel’s technical specifications.
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for upload processes, exception handling, and content change management to reduce rework and improve throughput.
  • Triage and resolve upload exceptions and blocked SKUs by investigating root causes, coordinating with vendors, merchandising, and IT, and applying corrective actions to remove bottlenecks quickly.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including throughput, error rate, time-to-live, backlog age, and first-pass quality; present insights to stakeholders and recommend process improvements.
  • Coordinate with the merchant/merchandising team to prioritize launches, seasonal assortments, and promotional content, ensuring required assets and metadata are ready for scheduled campaign windows.
  • Manage vendor and vendor-sourced content evaluation—provide onboarding guidance, quality feedback, and escalation paths for supplier-delivered images, specs, and certificates.
  • Maintain data integrity by auditing listings regularly for duplicated SKUs, inconsistent variants, incorrect categories, and missing GTINs/UPC codes; initiate corrections and preventive controls.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering to define upload automation requirements, test API integrations, and validate batch upload jobs, ensuring safe deployment of automation features.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and continuous development for the upload team, run daily stand-ups, weekly coaching, and skills assessments to raise overall capability and reduce errors.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources during peak periods (new product launches, holiday seasons) by building flexible schedules, temporary staffing plans, and overtime strategies to meet high-volume demands.
  • Enforce quality checkpoints for compliance-sensitive product categories (regulated goods, hazardous materials, pharmaceuticals) ensuring required documentation and labeling are uploaded and approved.
  • Conduct regular root cause analyses on recurring upload issues and design cross-functional corrective actions that reduce manual interventions and cycle times.
  • Maintain version control and audit trails for content changes, enabling traceability and rollback when marketplace compliance or legal reviews require it.
  • Optimize assignment queues and workload balancing using WMS/CMS tools and reporting to minimize idle time and ensure even distribution of high-complexity tasks.
  • Drive content enrichment initiatives (attributes, enhanced brand content/A+ pages, bullet optimizations) in partnership with marketing to lift search relevance and conversion rates.
  • Manage escalations to senior leadership for critical outages, portal delistings, or compliance incidents; coordinate remediation plans and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Oversee continuous improvement programs including Lean/Kaizen projects to streamline upload steps, reduce touchpoints, and increase first-pass yield.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation between uploaded listings and inventory systems—coordinate fixes for items showing as active without available stock or mismatched SKUs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of marketplace policy changes, channel-specific requirements, and new CMS features to keep the team current and compliant.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives with legal, compliance, design, and customer service teams to establish robust content governance and prevent listing-related escalations.
  • Manage performance reviews, hiring decisions, and disciplinary actions for direct reports; build a high-performing team culture centered on accuracy, accountability, and continuous learning.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory analysis around upload throughput, error categories, and content readiness for seasonal promotions.
  • Contribute to the organization's content and catalog strategy by recommending system enhancements and scalable workflows.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate merchandising and marketing needs into technical upload requirements and prioritized backlog items.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies when working with product and engineering teams on CMS or PIM improvements.
  • Assist with disaster recovery and contingency planning for large-scale outages of marketplace portals or CMS systems to minimize downtime.
  • Support vendor audits by supplying upload logs, QA records, and training documentation as requested by procurement or compliance teams.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for external audits or certification programs where listing accuracy and product compliance are evaluated.
